game requests key in new win and don't accept it

I deleted my key.scb file, and then the program asked for key entry.
So indeed the problem looks in there. A new key.scb was created.
I then replaced it with a copy of the file in the folder and the programs asked for verification.
After connecting to the net, verification occured and then ETS2 started normally.
So Reinhard is right there lies the problem.

After having made a backup, is your directory or the file key.scb maybe write-protected? It has no effect here but who knows?

yes the folder was read only! But i changed it now, problem remains..

@hochdorf if you transform your copy in a Steam one maybe it helps and you won't have the issue again if/when you re-format or even get a new PC.
If even this fails, then do as @daniel_bel said...
