ETS2 and ATS: stuttering since 1.38

Hello there,

i was running both games with pretty stable vsync capped 60 fps before 1.38 at highest graphics settings.

Since the update with SSAO i have fps drops down to 30, what still should be enough for fluid driving, but even with disabled SSAO i have stutters, while i have ~60 fps most of the time. My fps never drop below 30, so this stuttering is not fps dependent. It's like the whole game engine is slowing down for some milliseconds up to several seconds. You can hear this also by the clicking sound of your turn indicators, that is not equally rhythmic anymore, when this happens. Even with low settings i still have the stuttering.

See attached files for details. Before you ask: i have this behavior also on a completely new profile without any mods.

Thanks in advance.

Try adding these to your launch options in steam:

-mm_max_resource_size 40 and -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 500

I have the same problem with 1.38. I agree with everything you said. It's not about the frame rate. It happens even while the frame rate is stable above 40 and SSAO off. It completely kills the immersion.

Did you learn how to solve the problem? I'm very tired of these stuttering ...

@dantec116, i still have no solution yet :-/

@bent, yes i have owned trailers, but i had those long before this patch and had no issues with them. My game is not stuttering at "some point" as you mention, it's stuttering almost the entire time while it's running. But anyway thanks for the reply. :-)

Did you add ressource and buffers to your launch properties as suggested?

I got the same problem. Nothing changed before I updated it. Same settings as before. And without mods stuttering too. I downgraded the game, hopefully is this problem very soon fixed.

I have looked into stuttering a bit for a friend, although I don't play the game myself. I found some stuttering in SCS official youtube videos, and put in a bug report at viewtopic.php?f=275&t=289776

Do my findings seem related to what you are seeing?

I've got these huge frame drops when using a ownable trailer, it doesnt matter if I use the standard trailers or any modded ones.
It often happens when entering or leaving a big junction, or entering a city.
Anybody else experienced this and are there a fix for it?

I'm using the latest version 1.38.1.12, but I have had it since 1.37.

Nope.

1. I don't know, what those parameters do, and i NEVER change anything, when i have no idea, what the changes will do.

2. I can't accept manually added launch parameters as a proper bug fix. SCS made the patch, SCS should fix it. Simple. :-)

But hey, at least there is a new paintjob released, so we can have stutters with style!
