Access violation in d3d11.dll
Hi all
First of all: I'm not a fan of version 1.40. That goes for both ETS2 and ATS, but I can live live with the overbright sky and other stuff.
However, I'm now at the point where I seem unable to complete even a single job without crashing at some random point, always an access violation in D3d11.dll. Again, this goes for both ETS2 and ATS.
I use NO mods (folder confirmed empty), my GPU is NOT overclocked (my CPU is), WIN10 is updated and so are my Nvidia drivers.
To see if the infamous bug called Windoes Update had anything to do with it, I rolled back ATS to 1.39 - and completed 4 end-to-end jobs without problems.
I have only tried rolling back ATS, as I don't want to lose my progress with Iberia etc.
I have taken the last crash log and will post it here, together with the corresponding game log. I hope it is all right that I don't use pastebin, as the files are short.
If not, please let me know (I know you will )
Specs:
I9-9900K@4800MHz (all cores)
16GB Ram
Nvidia GTX1080 (driver 466.47)
Resolution 3x1920 x 1080, Nvidia Colors and full Color depth.
WIN 10 pro (20h2/19042.1052)

Re: Access violation in d3d11.dll
There are 2 known causes of that particular crash from your game log.
1. Overclocked GPU
2. Asus setting
If as you say your GPU is not overclocked, try changing this setting in your config file to 0
uset cf_asus_aura "0"

HI and thanks for your reply!
I tried the aura disable thing on ATS, but that didn't help. What is this setting anyway? Does anybody know?
What seems to have helped, though, was to lower the scaling from 200 to 100. Of course, that made the game look awful in my eyes - but it didn't crash!
Using Nvidia Profile Inspector I upped AA to 8X, but it still needs some tinkering...
I also need to do more testing, especially try this on ETS2 - but it's getting awfully hot here in DK, so it will have to wait a bit - I'm sweltering!
But it does seem like the new lighting system doesn't play nice with scaling (at least not with scaling of magnitude 2x(5760x1080).
Now, I can't know how many people are using scaling but if only a few, it might explain why the problem haven't shown up before.
Will report back, thanks again

Re: Access violation in d3d11.dll
Many people use scaling, up to 400%. It depends on how capable your graphics card is.
Yours is good and should be able to run at 400%.

Yep a GTX 11080 TI is current option in the scratch build rig, runs pretty nice considering is is a "free" 2nd hand GPU from the familys store

Re: Access violation in d3d11.dll
Hi again
Yes! That seems to have done the trick! I have just completed 3 end-to-end jobs with scaling=150% and 4xAA managed by Nvidia Profile Inspector. Frame rates are good ~60FPS and quality is acceptable (though not as good as scaling=200%).
I want to say Thank You again! Even though the aura setting didn't work, it did get me thinking about scaling. I didn't think that would be an issue, mainly because it isn't in version 1.39 and earlier, and also because I would assume I would have seen sign of GPU stress (throttling etc) before I would get CTD's.
Now, if only I could get rid of the mysterious flashes in my rear view mirrors, when distance is set to ultra...

In the mirrors I have flashing street lights at night, normal settings
If you are on vanilla, report it

Hi
SCS did fix that really annoying problem with flashing/blinking lights out the windows at night, but I still see them in my mirrors. Normal/vanilla settings can mean a lot of things. What do you mean by it?
But that is not what I'm talking about. This is daytime where a bright flash fills the entire mirror for a split second only at random times.
If I bring the F2 mirrors up as well, the flash does not show up there - only in the "real" mirrors.
Setting Mirror Distance from Ultra to High cured the problem, but as I like the Ultra setting I went back to that - and the flash stayed away for the rest of that session. However, it was back in the next session.
I haven't seen it with scaling 150%, so maybe that particular problem was also scaling related. If it does come back, I'll create a new thread instead of using this.
Thanks,
Sven

Re: Access violation in d3d11.dll
Okay, there do seem to be a cure!
By experimenting with ATS, I found out that lowering SSAO would allow me to use scaling 200. I have now disabled SSAO in ETS2 and reset scaling to 200 - and I have just now completed a very long (4300+ km) trip from Faro to Edirne - NO PROBLEMS!
But, man! That was a long ride and the longest I have ever seen as an External Contract!
So something doesn't like the 3 monitor/5750x1080, high scaling, SSAO and version 1.40.xxx combination - at least not on my rig. Fortunately, turning off SSAO doesn't impact the beautiful look much.
Thanks for your time, gents

Re: Access violation in d3d11.dll
But once I find a cure: TADAA / a new version (1.41) of ETS2 and ATS and the problems IS BACK IN BOTH!
THIS SIMPLY CANNOT GO ON!
I do wish a developer would take a closer look at all the errors in game.log.txt - do they cause the crash or are they merely a byproduct?
Some time ago I gave up on Flight Simulation as I felt I spent way too much time on tweaking compared to flying. I do not hope Truck Simming is going the same way!
