What in the world?

#1 Post by A48Racing » 24 Jun 2021 00:57

So I decide to get on to ETS2 after binging some S.T.A.L.K.E.R and the sky is green and pink.

I sleep a couple times and the sky color returns to normal but the skybox is FUBAR.

I load an unmodded save with no issue then go back to the modded save and the sky seems fine...... until some time passes then the pink returns.

I verify file integrity and it says 1 file failed to validate.

I go to my steam downloads and its downloading a 5.6 gigabyte file????????????????

I'm posting this as its downloading, has this happened to anyone else?

From people i know, it had happened to 2 in 3 people that i know, their game kept crashing and after ive told them to verify their game, they had missing the same amount. The fix is just to verify the game and its all good, this happens when you go in the beta for some reason? :/

Not sure why you are complaining, and yes this happened to other people that use MODS

Find the mod that's causing it and remove or update it.

Wha.....? The frigging missing file was over 5 gigs!

I did the validation on ATS as well, that one had a 4.8 gig file fail to validate!

I'm just wondering what could've caused this since I literally haven't fiddled with the games at all for like a month or two.

@Underscore_101_ This had absolutely nothing to do with mods.

Files can get corrupted by windows for any number of reasons. Whether the game has been run recently or not.

Absolutely true, think that happened to me in ATS once, but the OP mentioned it doesn't happen in a vanilla profile, only in a modded profile, I can only draw one conclusion from that.

I should have worded myself better and not make it seem like a statement that it won't happen on vanilla profiles.

That was partially my fault too, should've mentioned it happened in both.

So windows just screws with the games files like that? Thats crazy.

I probably should have said windows/steam, but yes, yes they do.

More likely Steam which can loose part of a file during download
Steam should be able to do a checksum validation after normal download but apparently it doesn't
