Help! Graphics and scaling

#1 Post by opperboef » 19 Oct 2021 06:59

I'm having some problems with my ETS. I noticed a lot of flickering on fences and buildings. I kinda managed tol fix that with some work in my graphic cards setting. But now i have a "dragging lag" when im driving most of the time. Heres what i have:

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6 core proc. 3.59GHz
16GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650
DirectX 12
Monitor: Samsung ur550 UDH 4k 60Hz
Running the game on 3840 x 2160

I turned off anti aliasing/SSAO in the game. Scaling is on 100%. Colour correction and anisotrop. filter is off as well. The rest i on high/ultra. I included 2 screens of the settings i did on the graphic card. The game still runs a bit laggy for some reason.

I tryed going to 1080p or 2560 x 1440 but than the screen gets "blown up" and everything becomes ugly as hell/unreadable lol. So, can anyone suggest me what the best thing to do or what i should change?!

I assume you have vsync enabled, try to disable it, that solves my tearing especially when making a turn

@opperboef, the only way to eliminate moiré ladders in current SCS games is to use the anti-aliasing method via the Nvidia Inspector (does not work with SSAO). After 9 years of the game's existence, no officially normal anti-aliasing method has been added. By default, the old and resource-intensive SSAA, together with primitive SMAA, are present in the game for fun and only take up huge resources of the video card with a terrible result on the monitor.

Right, thanks for the info! Will try the Inspector tonight or tomorrow.

It helped a bit. But the next day the game was laggy. Turned it back to normal and it was fine again. But i think they did something with the graphics in the latest update. Game looks so damn pretty

Don't turn on anti-aliasing in the global Nvidia profile. Enable it only for specific "programma-instellingen" depending on how resource-demanding and new it is. AA doesn't generally work in new games, or can corrupt edges of objects in other games. In ETS the antialiasing only improves the map display.

Anisotropic and vsync are generally safe to put in the global profile.

Hi. Respectfully perhaps running at 4K isn't helping the gfx's card. Personally i would leave the Nvidia settings at default then try at 4X scaling with no aa or ssao. With the Nvidia Inspector @100% scaling, try 200%, 300% scaling until the game starts lagging where there's too much information for the gfx's card to handle. Also a smalll adjustment in the config file -

uset r_drr_strength "8.0" change to uset r_drr_strength "0.0" this will help with the overall clarity of the gfx's.

Hope this helps

I also can't stand the default anti-aliasing.I'm currently using 4xAA from Nvidia Inspector.I've tried default anti-aliasing with 300% scaling. It's a little bit better, but still worse than Inspector anti-aliasing.
People has been talking and asking for improvement of the default anti-aliasing,but SCS seems to be quiet about it.
