Real Automatic?, Hmm

Hello Everyone,
In RL trucks you select DRIVE/REVERSE hit the gas, & off you go. But in-game my truck won't budge unless I hold-down the relevant key-press + accelerator. If I release said key-press the truck grinds to a halt. This can't be right.. unless of course, I'am doing something wrong. HELP!!

because you are most probably trying to set keyboard control in controller options. controllers (shifters) have hold-logic on stick.
if you look at keys&buttons there are actions (shift up/down/neutral) that react on key-press instead of hold.
