Fifth wheel wrong position on trucks?
Fifth wheel wrong position on trucks?
Is it just me or is the fifth wheel on most SCS trucks too low compared with the rear fenders, hence many trailers look like they are touching the rear fenders of the trucks...
Re: Fifth wheel wrong position on trucks?
This has been reported multiple times throughout the last months by many players (including me). SCS is still blind for this. They are aware of the issue, but they are not interested in fixing this, or - which is possible - SCS just don't know how to fix their own game.
This is the biggest bug for me in ETS2.

I noticed this in particular with the XF106.

Re: Fifth wheel wrong position on trucks?
It’s a problem on all trucks and it’s something in the physics department thats making This behaviour because it started in 1.34 or 1.35 When the cabin physics where upgraded, although no one from SCS has ever wanted to say anything regarding This issue, not even in multiple bug reports. Kinda frustrating Tbh.

So true, sadly. SCS is avoiding this subject, pretending this bug don't exist, for almost a year. Probably they think: "We don't care, get a life players, just buy our map DLC's, and keep your mouths shut".

Re: Fifth wheel wrong position on trucks?
it may be because the model they took had no fender tops, common practice in Europe, but yes it is a big, annoying bug

Re: Fifth wheel wrong position on trucks?
you are not allowed to drive without fender tops if no trailer is attached to it (in germany, CZ shouldnt be different), also with or without fender it wouldnt make any difference, because the hight of ground to 5th wheel doesnt change if you dont have any fender tops on or not, Lowdeck trucks are an exception because you could literally rip them off if you turn

Re: Fifth wheel wrong position on trucks?
True, main issue is 5th wheel height, it's too low, an option to raise it would solve the problem, or SCS could raise it in every truck model. The solution is easily on a plate

Re: Fifth wheel wrong position on trucks?
this has nothing to do with the 5th wheel either
standard hight is 1150 to 1250mm from ground, the fenders on some trucks are to high, normally the fender should cover up the top of the wheel on normal ride hight and not have a football big gab between it (except if it is a truck for construction, wich we dont have ingame)
SCS should rework the way trailers are handled, get rid of the locator that sets the hight and let the trailer brace decide it so the trailer is up 1300mm - 1400mm of the ground, add a proper collision to the 5th wheel and the under side of the trailer and add the god dame suspension adjustment for coupling/decoupling trailers, nobody would decouple a trailer on ride hight, they always will lift it up, so they can get the trailer brace down, drive forward and set the suspension back and drive off to wherever they go

Re: Fifth wheel wrong position on trucks?
Your way is too complicated imho, besides, SCS will not redesign entire trailer handling, too much work, and it's also risky. In this case, it would be really a lot easier to add an option to lift up the 5th wheel to our liking, with limited range of course...
