What are these things?
They're all over Europe in several shapes and sizes (I think I saw three different shapes), but I'm not aware of any IRL counterparts, especially as frequent and ubiquitous as in the game. Water towers of some kind maybe?

Yes, water towers to allow proper pressure on water distribution systems in zones with small height variations.
And there's plenty of them in lots of different shapes all over ETS2. I don't remember the names of the cities now, but two Swedish cities in the Scandinavia DLC had some very impressive versions of that same content.

They are indeed water towers. We have those in America as well. Nearly every town in my area has one, often with the name of the town and/or the town's seal written across it. Many larger towns and cities have multiple.

Thanks for clearing that up... that one looked to me like the Jolly Green Giant was about to tee off.
