Bake Shadow with Transparency

#1 Post by FreD_ » 11 Oct 2018 09:24

Hello Guys,

i want to bake a Shadow through Blender for my Roofbars because without it looks crap.
It's like ui Shadow but only with dif.spec.over
Here is a Picture:

And i need it separately because not everyone uses that Bars. (i add just the Mesh to the different Variants then)

And instead of that black i just want some smooth Shadow Tex with Transparency - so it won't affect Skins.

How could i make this happen?

For Information - i got a much better Variant now to do this - Watch this Tutorial - thats nice. You have to do a little bit work with your Favorite Photo Editing Software to make better Alpha
And then you will get this:

I don't see a reason why not but we have SSAO for this now.

Yup, fake shadows should be a thing of the past
But if you disable SSAO in game options then what? Don't you need some kind of fallback?

It only looks somewhat ok with SSAO on highest setting. I still recommend making fake shadows for accessories, but maybe not as dark as before. Just look at the rear lamps on the lowbeds and low loaders, they doesn't look good at all on medium SSAO setting. Also the SSAO is way to "low-res" to look good on vehicles, whereas it looks very good on terrain and buildings ;)

yeah SSAO is good also, but, when facing the sun the ssao effect looks loose / dissapear, which is why i'm trying to make this fake shadow for removable accessories like Fred's did above :). ( sorry my english is bad )
