Adjustable Cruise Control Updates for ATS

#1 Post by Josh0 » 07 Jun 2019 00:20

For those who still have the Adjustable Cruise Control application made by Sniper this is a place where ACC game update files will be provided. Sniper's ACC application can be found in his Dropbox or the source code repository on GitHub (use version 2.4.0). In general I (or someone) will provide an ACC game update file within 48 hours of a game update being published by SCS. There is no need to whine about needing an ACC update less than 48 hours from the time SCS published their game update, just be patient.

To apply game update files to ACC:
  1. Click on the link in the list above next to the version of the game that you have.
  2. Click on the "Download" button on the pastebin page.
  3. If your browser asks you how you want to open the file then select to save the file.
  4. If your browser asks where on your computer you want to save the file, select your desired location and change the extension of the filename from ".txt" to ".ini" (you can also change this filename after the file has been saved to your computer).
  5. Open your ACC application, click the "Settings..." button, then click the "Update Games data..." button, then click the "Load update file..." button.
  6. In the open file window navigate your filesystem to find the ACC games update file that you just downloaded, select it and click the "Open" button.
  7. Assuming you never applied this update file before, the entries found in the update file will automatically be checkmarked in the list so you can just click the "Make Update" button.
  8. After clicking "OK", close the "Game data update" window and close the "Settings" window.
  9. ACC is now ready to play with your game!

All ACC game update files that I have ever published can be found on my pastebin page: https://pastebin.com/u/Josh0. The title of each paste indicates the game version of that update. Note: there may be a few non-ACC files in my pastebin, and also some ACC files that were not created by myself.

Why this. Because you can already adjust it in the game while you drive..

First a big thank you to Josh0 for keeping this updated.

@TexasWhirlwind, @joschac2. One thing ACC can do that the in game cruise can't is keep your cruise control at whatever speed limit you are currently driving through.

With in game cruise, you get the truck up to the speed you want, hit cruise and it keeps you at that speed till you need to slow down or stop again. once you have stopped or slowed down you have to go through the process again, increase speed to what you want, hit cruise.

ACC has an option that you can turn on "Auto" cruise control and ACC will scan the speed limit you are in and automatically adjust the cruise control to that speed. Say you have ACC's Auto cruise on, speed limit is 35, you then enter a 55 zone, ACC cruise will automatically increase your speeed to 55. If the limit drops down again or increases, ACC will again readust to the new speed limit. Another thing you can do is multiple hotkeys with a set cruise control speed. key1=25, key2=35, key3=55 etc.

NOTE... the files posted here are just the data files for ACC. You need the main ACC application running in the background. The ACC application is no longer available for download here though.

This statement is wrong.

I have my game cruise set in the game options with the buttons that came with the game so you can increase or decrease the speed. It has always worked that way in the game.. I see no difference in yours or the games. They both do the same thing....

Technically you are correct. They are both doing the same thing. The difference is the number of inputs needed to accomplish the same thing. As you yourself have pointed out, once you stop, to get back up to a specific cruise speed you have to hit multiple keys. A key to activate cruise, a key to increase cruise step, a key to decrease cruise step. With ACC I press one button on the controller and cruise will take me to my destination darn near on auto pilot (as far as speed limit goes). It will adjust my speed automatically as I pass through different speed zones, without me having to hit any keys. If I stop at a light, when I start moving again, one key press will take me up to the current speed limit and that one key press also keeps me at whatever the current speed limit is.

Edit..... I realize it may sound minor, its just saving only one or two button presses, but over a long journey it can add up. But related to that is the main reason I use ACC. There are so many places in the game that the speed limits will change drastically and very quickly with no warning. For me personally it was very frustrating to be cruising along at the speed limit, then have it change suddenly and if i happened to be focused on something else, scenery etc (which happens a lot lol) then i'm suddenly hitting the brake to slow down, then having to get up to the speed limit again. I still need to and do accelerate and brake normally all the time. ACC doesn't auto speed pilot the whole time i'm driving. In some ways i use it more like a radar detector. When i'm on cruise control and the speed suddenly starts dropping, I know the speed limits changed and there is probably something up ahead that i need to focus on.
