ATS concept map (fanmade)
Re: ATS concept map (fanmade)
Seattle offset is quite good.
Portland, not good.

Well in reality St. Maries is nowhere near those places. You are skipping out a whole community. Plus St. Maries also has a lumber mill and places to deliver grocery. Elk City has a gas station and that's it. its a verry crappy town.
Re: ATS concept map (fanmade)
There's no need to replace Elk City with St. Maries, You could easily have both included since they're 116 miles apart.
The point of having Elk City is to fill out the state a little better, and to offer Idaho 14 as an interesting route. There are plenty of small towns in ATS that fulfill the same purpose (Hornbrook, California, which is also just a gas station and construction site, only has 248 people and Coulee Dam, Washington barely breaks 1,000), and there are plenty more that had to be skipped due to scale. St. Maries is too close to larger, more notable towns for it to make an appearance imho. Perhaps as scenery for a lumber yard that is under the umbrella of Coeur d'Alene. We can't say what the map designers will do when Idaho is finally released, this is all speculative, and this is just the 2 cents as someone who's a little *too* into these games.

Re: ATS concept map (fanmade)
Just to get I-5 as close to the border as possible pre-Oregon. Maybe they didn’t choose Yreka because they had Eureka also in Northern California, thinking people might get confused between them since they’re so close. And Weed might have been too south for their liking.
Today they could honestly unmark Hornbrook and leave it as a rest stop scenery city like Deming or Baker City. But I don’t want them to take away cities unless they added Weed or Yreka to replace it.
I was just thinking the other day how I’ve never actually been to Hornbrook for a job. Only to get gas and discover the roads.

Re: ATS concept map (fanmade)
Too bad distance doesn't help me keep Hornbrook and Holbrook straight. They're both minor cities on the edge of the base map and I always have to double check which one is which.
And I wouldn't say Yreka/Eureka is any more confusing than Bend and Burns, the two cities in the center of Oregon that both have short names beginning with B, if only because of the sheer weirdness of the name Yreka.

You’re probably right. It was just the only reasoning I could come

Re: ATS concept map (fanmade)
Well that would be ironic, considering that there are two Carlsbad's in the game. Granted, "Eureka" and "Yreka" are spelled differently, but it's still ironic regardless.

Here is my vision of what cities should be included in California.

You cut off the fake road at Fresno!

Riverside or San Bernardino.
And..... that I-10 route in Los Angeles... + I-5 too.
Those could use a Greater Seattle area do over.
If and when SCS remakes Los Angeles.
Ontario area or similar, is another place or however they might do it.
