FFB Varies by Truck?

In my time with my Logitech G920 in ETS2 and ATS, I've noticed a strange phenomenon occurring. The force feedback in the wheel seems to vary based on the the truck and trailer that you are driving. In particular, the stiffness of the wheel seems to change. Is this intentional by SCS? Is this even something that anyone else has noticed, or does it only happen to me? If it is intentional, my best guess would be that it has something to do with the weight distribution on the steer axle, but would this really make such a noticeable difference in the stiffness of the steering?

i have never experienced what you describe with my G27 it stays the same on FFB

I’ve not experienced this either. I also wonder if more weight on the steer would matter in a modern truck. Power steering is sufficient to overcome any realistic resistance. Obviously, since you play vanilla, it can’t be from some ridiculous modded load that is 10,000 tons or something crazy, so I don’t see what would make this happen in game. Is it really that noticeable? Is it possible that the wheel itself has a problem ?

Sorry for my very late reply! I forgot to check this thread for replies after I made it.

I would say that is is somewhat noticeable. If you change to multiple trucks and/or trailers in one day, it can get sort of annoying to have the wheel changing stiffness every time. I also noticed that is gets stiffer with a heavy load on. For example, the wheel will be stiffer when I'm hauling the train locomotive load than it would be when I am hauling an empty container chassis. It could possibly be an issue with the wheel itself. I don't know for sure though because it's the only wheel I've ever used, so I have nothing to compare it against.

I haven't noticed any difference by truck, but certainly per load. In a truck with a load that is way too heavy, the steering is very light and almost non existent, which makes sense. Also a heavy load - that isn't too much for the truck - the steering can be a bit heavier. Similarly without a trailer the steering is quite light. BTW I am using the plugin.

Well I feel ATS trucks lighter in the steering, also when I tested nosy trucks in ETS2, turning off the engine makes it more pronounced as you are on your own against the weight.

I think it's weight distribution dependant. An official confirmation would be nice.

Dunno if the G29 makes it more pronounced but I felt this before when using a G27 too, maybe it's all placebo

I have no clue what happens with the game's FFB simulation. Sorry. And TBH, it's not fantastic and personally I'm using supric's FFB plugin instead.

@Oscar: I hope improving the FFB will come very soon. As a simulator, it should have the need to simulate the truck's physics as accurately possible via the force feedback engine. And of course, that includes each of the truck having their own "personal feel".

Ps. Sorry for necro-posting but I don't think there's a need to start a new thread since this thread was what I'm hoping to hear a good news about the FFB for once even though it didn't.
