Syntax Error when click Pack Mod

#1 Post by danbywinby » 30 Sep 2019 20:40

Hi All

I am getting a weird issue when clicking 'Pack Mod' in SCS Blender Tools. Potentially this is because i have done something wrong as i am very new to SCS Blender Tools.

Firstly i get a command prompt window pop up displaying a load of different messages however what i find strange is that it seems to be going through every file in the SCS Base. Is it really supposed to be doing that?

Secondly whilst the above messages are popping up i am getting a lot of errors displaying saying something about a Syntax Error. Below is a small snapshot of them (i did try uploading to pastebin however the file is too large):

I do not know why any of those errors are occurring as there aren't any weird characters in those file paths.

If anybody has any idea as to what might be causing these issues then please let me know, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

It looks like the tobj-file is corrupt (veg_sphere.tobj'). Just delete it and let Blender make a new one ;)

EDIT: I was a bit quick there... it looks like all tobj-files are corrupt. It's probably because they are in binary format. Delete all and make new ones in blender

How can they be corrupt? All i did was extract the base.scs files.

How do i get blender to make new ones or would it just be easier for me to just extract the base.scs files again?

Here's the solution

So, don't use the original tobj files from base.scs, because those in binary formats. ;)
You must have convert the base.scs file with ConverterPix and after it will be a text format from all binary tobj files.

I'm sorry but i don't understand.

All i am trying to do is use Blender Tools to convert a cone model to a 'building' so that i can use it how i want to use it in my random event scenes.

When i click 'export' it says exported successfully but that just gives me *.pim files so i then try 'pack mod' and that gives me a command line window that seems to go through every single file in the base.scs file (i have no idea why it goes through every single file and i don't even know if it is supposed to do this).

At the end once it has gone through every single file in the base.scs file i am left with tons upon tons of these syntax errors.

You are telling me that this is because the .tobj files in the base.scs file are in a binary format rather than a text format. So does that mean i need to somehow convert every single .tobj file in the base.scs file to text format? And if i do need to convert them then how do i convert them? Because that link does not tell me how to fix the issue with them being in binary format.

Rather than use pack mod, you can use SCS tools to convert your mod files.

I believe that "Pack Mod" does more than just convert the current files for your mod.

A: You must have convert the base.scs file with ConverterPix and after it will be a text format from all binary tobj files.

That's it all!

I've already downloaded that. Thats how i am able to import the cone model into Blender.

I thought it did the conversion process when importing the base.scs into Blender?

You need to convert it again back to the game usable version.

You start with a game usable file and convert it into an editable file while in Blender.
When you are done you need to convert it back to a game usable file.

**And for most mods you don't need to re-convert every tobj from the base game.
I haven't had to do this with any of the mods I've made.

Isn't the 'Pack Mod' button supposed to do that conversion process?
