EVENTS:
This dam from what I have been able to understand within Portuguese history is extremely important for the country and is a hoover dam to the country's standard, a great feat of engineering in the 1950s.

On the other hand is an extremely enigmatic place with UFO sightings and other events over time as placed in the Events item.

Accidents also seem to be somewhat common to occur in the area. Because the dam is situated reported we would already have important random events.

Fires in Portugal are relatively common during the summer which is the period when the Euro Truck 2 game occurs in the climate issue.
The dam is used for firefighting in this central region of Portugal.
For this reason a video using the fire fighting ones is of a special model that is made by Canada, and sold worldwide including, the Portuguese air force has some copies as shown in the video.

Ovnis:
Rescue:
Screening and rollover near the Castelo de Bode dam caused injuries to the driver. Rescue:
Grandmother and grandchildren were surprised by the discharge at the Castelo de Bode dam and had to be rescued.

GREAT ROUTE FOREST & FARMS:
Good Morning! 31/12 /2019

I am completing the project you proposed to me, with this post and previous ones; place the city of Tomar on the DLC IBERIA.
Important industrial city, in the Portuguese Industrial history specially dedicated to the paper production. Today are tourist attractions the large paper mill center of the current city.
Also noteworthy is the relatively close small Constancia Village, which has a large active paper industry.

We all know the precise role of trees, so I spent a few weeks looking for a viable route, not too long but at the same time with picturesque places.
A very varied route in relief and landscapes, very cool and I hope our SCS mapper friends can search the route and put it on the map.
The route is retraction of this region, so mission accomplished!
Let's move on to other important things that Portugal has.

Route through Street View:
https://www.google.com.br/maps/dir/39.5 ... 0?hl=pt-BR

- Industry District TOMAR.
Exit of the industrial district from taking roundabout A13
Acess N110
Acess A13
- Dam Castelo do Bode
- Acess Constança - N 358-2
- N358
- N244
- M1253
- M536
- IC8

As you can see Tomar and Constância, they are part of the Portuguese cultural and tourist region called "route of the Templars" is a region where during the "Moroccan invasions", there in the medieval period, the famous Muslim invasions in Europe.
The region was the "border" between Portugal and the Moroccan kingdom of that period.
It was from this region that Portugal began to regain its territorial sovereignty - castle near Constancia - again and regained its territory that has been occupied ever since.

The Portuguese monarchical government sought to industrialize the Central region, as you can see on the map of Portugal, is very strategic.
This industrialization took place during the Pombaline period (liberal - right we would say today) there was a great demand for culture in the country, and there was also a very efficient bureaucracy to manage the great Portuguese World Empire.
This required many documents, records, orders .... and paper was needed so it was in this region that Portuguese industrialization began with paper.

---- CARDIGOS VILLAGE ---
Aerial perspective of Cardigos village:
https://www.google.com.br/maps/@39.6952 ... 2?hl=pt-BR
----CARDIGOS VILLAGE - INDUSTRIES ---

The route is also important and attractive with small industrial village / town.
The industrial, small town of Cardigos has some very impactful industries.
Remember that Portugal is a small country, so we sometimes have a lot of domestic economic weight in supplying national consumption.

Cardigos has industries:
- Candle and tallow industry.
Supply comes from Tomar - industrial slaughterhouse and other local manufacturer of: sausages and smoked.
Localization:

- Smoked sausages and hams industry.

Photos:

The factory produces the so-called Beira ham is typically portuguese and is sold to the whole country. There are several other factories in Portugal that produce this product "HAM from BEIRA".
A genuinely Portuguese product and very specific as a Portuguese charge in the ETS2 game.

Cardigos is the village on this route that deserves to have work in becoming active industry.

Village is important on the route for mechanical and fuel support.

Hello,

Here are some places at the main borders of Portugal that you can add ;)

Here, the border to the north of Portugal by entering the A3. Street View does not allow to go further but the border passes over the river Minho by a bridge.
https://www.google.fr/maps/@42.0329633, ... 384!8i8192

Here, the border crossing the Pequeno River, a passage very well known by the Portuguese coming from the Norte region. Further on, we enter the A24 towards Chaves.

A little behind, you notice the sign "Portugal 1Km".

@NewCoolMapper already said at the very beginning of the topic but it is good to call back :D
The famous border of Vilar Formoso, the most important border of Portugal towards Lisbon by taking the main road in Spain.

Some GNR controls are at the border, it would be nice to have border control animations ;)

Don’t forget the famous shield sculpture of the country :D
https://www.google.fr/maps/@40.6071144, ... 312!8i6656

The border in Bajadoz and Caia. It crosses the river Caia or Caya in Spanish. It enters the A6 towards Lisbon via Evora.
https://www.google.fr/maps/@38.8831321, ... 312!8i6656

And finally, the border to the south passing over the river Guadiana and which enters on the A2, the Algarve motorway towards Faro.
https://www.google.fr/maps/@37.2376463, ... 312!8i6656
Note that further away is the famous welcome sign to the Algarve ;)
https://www.google.fr/maps/@37.2376997, ... 312!8i6656

I hope I have helped you on borders and important key points in Portugal :D ;)

Time to put a thread about by current hometown, Leiria. (this post will be constantly updated as I gather further information)
The second largest city in the central region of Portugal, Leiria (capital city of the homonimous district) currently has over 120 thousand inhabitants. It is located approximately 76km away from Coimbra, 79km from Santarém, 124km from Aveiro, 148km away from Lisbon and 186km away form Porto, considering center-to-center distances.
As a comparison, a list of shorter distances between cities featured in the default map, using the same methodology (only cities with companies and with no ferries are listed), to prove the city can technically be added in the map without problems:

- Luxembourg to Metz (75 km)
- Duisburg to Cologne (73 km)
- Uppsala to Stockholm (71 km)
- Dortmund to Düsseldorf (70 km)
- Lahti to Kouvola (62 km)

Similar distances up to 80 km, counting cities with ferries and cities with only one company:

- Amsterdam to Rotterdam (78 km)
- Daugavpils to Utena (77 km)
- Paluel to Le Havre (72 km)

As with many cities in Portugal, Leiria is actually composed of several parishes
[ external image ]
Of the surrounding cities on the above picture, only Ourém is not a member of the Leiria district, but is considered as a member of the unofficial region of Leiria (Setúbal has a similar relationship to Lisbon).

Leiria is served by the A1 (officially Northern Motorway), with a service area in the southeastern part of the city, the A8 (Officially named Western Motorway), which links the city to Lisbon, and the A17 highway (Officially Center Coastal Motorway), which starts in the neighboring Marinha Grande and goes through Aveiro. A1 and A8 are linked by the A19 (Batalha Road).

Economy

Leiria has several industrial zones, separated in different parishes, which are often located near highways:
  • At Marrazes, a resin factory, a hatchery and a beverages distribution plant. A Decathlon shop, a Makro B2B supermarket and an IKEA pickup point are located outside of that industrial zone.
  • At Monte Redondo, an animal food plant, owned by the same company of the Marrazes hatchery. This company also owns its own fleet of trucks and trailers.
  • At Colmeias e Memória, plastics and ceramics factories.
  • At Maceira, a cement factory.
  • At Parceiros, there is a mall alongside a Continente supermarket (the largest market in Leiria) and a MediaMarkt shop, both located near the second Polytechnic campus. A Staples shop is located a little further to the south
[ external image ]
2018 list of the top fifty companies in the Leiria and Ourém districts by value of exports, with their names and main business. 2019 li

The nearest big company to the center of the city is a Leroy Merlin shop, with a small supermarket along it.
Near the border with Marinha Grande, there are AKI (bricolage) and La Redoute (clothes) shop.

Leiria is also home to a Portuguese Air Force base in Monte Real.
The Marinha Grande industrial zones are located slightly west, near the city limits of Leiria: That industrial zones include plastic moulds, glass factories and a scrap metal recycling plant, and can be inserted inside the Leiria city box, with Marinha Grande being featured as a village. The pine forest of Leiria is most located at the northern part of this city, but most of it is actually burned and being reforested. This forest is composed of a monoculture of Pinus pinaster, but trees like Eucalyptus, oaks and Pinus pinea can be found in a smaller scale. Flowers and ground flora include fern and Phillyrea angustifolia.

Scania, DAF and Mercedes (truck and car dealers in the same building) have official truck dealers in Leiria, with Ford opening one next year, probably along the existent car dealer near the Decathlon shop.

Landmarks
The main landmark of Leiria is its castle, located at one of the highest points of the city. Nearby, there is the city stadium, used in Euro 2004, which can be partly seen in the left part of the picture below.
[ external image ]

Other landmarks of Leiria are located at the center of the city, not being accessible to trucks.

The Sanctuary of Fátima, despite being somewhat associated with Leiria, is actually located in the district of Santarém, but it is more associated to Leiria due to proximity.

Another important note to take: all traffic of trucks carrying dangerous goods on tankers is prohibited on Sunday (source - https://www.tsf.pt/portugal/economia/pr ... 53098.html). This rule is valid for all Portugal.

Concept map of Leiria for ETS2 i made, considering the 1/19 scale of the default map: https://www.scribblemaps.com/maps/view/ ... ConceptMap

Comments about the concept map:
- The southern Marinha Grande industrial zone was chosen due to being further west than the northern industrial zone
- Zicofa, the zone where the Scania dealer is placed, is under several developments, and I have no idea what will be done on that empty spaces for now. That's why i chose the garage to be placed there, a small one exactly because of those developments.
- As seen in the map, many potencial places were left because they are adjacent to highways.
- The Air Force Base may be too far from the center of the city to be potentialy featured...
- There is a street market in the stadium's parking at least once per week. Often I saw trucks parked there.
- It may be hard to see the Castle most of the time because most of the view is blocked by trees, or sometimes by the stadium.
- Yes, I know, too many roundabouts.
- IC2 may be prefered instead of doing the entire A19 because of Batalha, which may be added as a village.

Ok, if the beautiful city of Tomar cannot be in the game, with its beautiful castle, fine. I hope that at least the paper industry that is nearby, in a small town in one of the posts to be in the game we will wait, then.
