Whatttt? When was this. I hope he took a video of his trip or has a great memory. I need me some US-550. That and I-70 will be the first two roads I need to run. We know for sure I-70 is in but US-550 is more wishful thinking. It can be trucked though. Riding Shotgun on youtube as videos of it. Very nice challenging run with gorgeous scenery.

@flight50 I'm pretty sure I can say with 100% confidence US-550 is in- its featured on the box art!

is located exactly here

You can compare the power line behind the mountainside, the twists of the road, and the shape of the peak!

Have fun driving down one of the most dangerous roads (that trucks are allowed on) in the USA! Not too many states have that claim to fame!

@alecwarper. Oh snap. Your right. That is almost a spot on replica. I thought it was a real life image at first, lol. I can see the slight differences. I can definitely say the mapper is doing his/her thing. That is an amazing comparison. That right there with my W900 on it just might become my new desktop background, lol. I can see the Mack Anthem getting dropped on that road for the Colorado cover in due time though. Either a black one or a read one. That new mountain tool is killing the game son, lol. Awesome work SCS mapper, whoever you are. This will be a road that you can definitely get damage or fines on from swinging into the other lane. I will probably run this road so many times that my monitor will get image burned, lol. I been waiting to get up more close and personal with the side of mountains. The Sierra Nevada mod does it just as some of NV-140. But now we get some US-550 in.

alecwarper, nice find on the boxart and where it is.
Is that a photo? can't find exact location that matches for a photo. 100% match not found.
Artist rendition?
Or Ingame?!
either of the latter 2.

Familiar faces, but tired and headache, so can't puzzle the names to persons on the photo.
Link for it? on my last post.

O hey! flight50 posted while I have double, tripple, quadrupple checked the streetview of that area.

The cover art looks more like a render, or an enhanced photo, rather than an in-game image; something like the previous Steam covers. I really hope that what we'll get is close to that, though, with a cliff going up on one side and down on the other, with no room for mistakes. If so, this road will probably get its own blog post.

Handy maps and diagrams.

Furthermore, I consider that I-80 across Nevada must be redone next.

Lol. Hmmmm own blog. How about teaser video instead. Well if that is a render, I doubt SCS did it for nothing if its not gonna be in the game. If they show that road and not give it, that's false advertisement. With the realism they are going for, I'd like to think that render is not just for its good looks. I hope it has valve as in, its in the game to drive on.

If @RacerToft did indeed drive US-550, I am sure it was for a reason. To bring it to life in ATS.

@flight50
I did write "100% match not found". Yes, I know it matches very well. I do not doubt the location.
By that I mean, it depicts that area and road, for sure. But I can not find any spot that would match it for 100%.
But still seems to not be an actual photo?
That using the mountain tops, powerlines, road etc.
Closest I get is https://www.google.com/maps/@37.990562, ... 312!8i6656 and if taking steps to the right shoulder of the road.
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.9907332 ... 312!8i6656
I would call that cover photo as a very nice artist rendition of an IRL photo. For now atleast.

Are the other cover photos renditions or 100% matching ingame locations?

And yeah, why were they at that road stretch back in late august / early september 2019.
I would call US-550 confirmed, since september 2019. And even earlier for the SCS mapping teams.
The instagram shot? taken at Ouray Colorado Switzerland of America Lookout Point.

Oh okay. Apparently your using some search engine or feature. I am not aware of anything anyone uses to locate places SCS does. Apologies. I misunderstood your post. The word "not" thru me off.
