Thanks for the reply and update dear Drive Safely! Punch me in the face if I am talking too much, but what do you think about turning the volume down for retarder? I drive Range T now, and retarder is extremely loud, but I don't want to lower the volume for entire group

@bumbumek
Maybe in a future update I can rework the default retarder sound which you can fallback to by editing a def file.
In 1.37 the retarder sounds are on a per truck basis so it'll be a little complicated.

I gave it a go and didn't notice much difference. I'm wondering if you know the sound I'm refering to. I may try and record it at some point.
Also: I like the box design you do. If you ever do a physical copy of your mod, I expect to receive in the box:
- a floppy disk set (containing the mod)
- a minature toy truck and trailer with audible brake sounds when you bring it to a halt
- a cloth map of the ATS game world
:D

Thanks again dear Drive Safely. I really didn't expect, that SCS will make things so complicated with this audio update

@akima - Thanks! It sure feels like a physical copy which was the look I was aiming for.
Do you by chance drive in the game with windows open? I can reduce the sound further with windows closed if you'd like.

I drive int-cab windows open, in-cab windows closed and third person. I switch between them as and regularly as a squirrel changes direction.Drive Safely wrote: ↑08 Jun 2020 20:28 Do you by chance drive in the game with windows open? I can reduce the sound further with windows closed if you'd like.
I'm still not sure if you know the sound I am referring to. I noticed a high-frequency ringing sound coming from the brakes recently and I'm wondering if you thought that was what I was referring to. I have no problem with the ringing. It's actually a really beautiful sound IMO. The sound I am referring to doesn't always happen. I've attached an audio clip to show you exactly which sound I mean.
The sound can be heard on my 4th braking attempt at 18 seconds into the clip. The first 3 attempts I was in first gear and came fully to a stop. On the 4th attempt I was also in 1st gear, but this time I feathered the brake more and didn't fully bring the truck to a stop. The sound was captured in third person view.
Note: the forum wouldn't let me upload a .ogg file so I renamed the extension to .diz. You will probably have to change it back to .ogg to play it.
The sound is pretty similar to the sound of my chair squeaking. It's the only unpleasant (IMO) sound the truck makes. It also sounds very static to me and overlayed. Whereas all the other sounds blend together and work in harmony, this squeak sounds like this separate, static sound file played over the top of the other sounds. It breaks (no pun intended) the sound-scape immersion for me.
If this is your sound, I don't mean to cause any offense by my feedback on it. This is just my experience. I really love your mod and think it very much improves the game. The popularity of your mod may even be partially the reason why SCS decided to invest so much resources into improving the ATS, base-game, sound experience.

@akima - Thanks for taking the time to record an audio clip.
Just to confirm, are these sounds the ones you mean? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yAWmLm ... sp=sharing

Dear @Drive Safely, I have to apologize. I was wrong about some sound - the retarder itself is not loud. It's the engine brake, because Range T has retarder connected with the engine brake. Just to clarify things up.
