FH is the name of the series, 12, 13 and 16 specify the engine displacement (12, 13 and 16 liters). FH12 is no lomger available for more than a decade as far as I know. In game we have the second and the third generation, but because people counts the upgrade the 1st gen had it for a few years, they talk about them as FH3 and FH4 to make it more confusing.

Volvo calles the newer one we have ingamen FH4, at least the dealers do

Just like with Scania 5th or 6th series.

In the end it doesn't matter as long as you can understand what they are talking about.

Is that one thing is commercial brands or names for a truck model and another thing are internal product identifiers for that same truck model. FH16 would be the brand nice name, while FH4 the identifier for Volvo's internal documentation. When we talk about trucks it's usual to mix both things; with cars isn't less usual (for the common people, dealers "talk" in coded identifiers instead of models too).

Actros MP4 and Actros MP5 send their regards, those 2 models dont exist, it is Actros 4 and Actros 5, or if you want to get technical it is New Actros (Actros 4) and New Actros MP2 (Actros 5)
