@explosion65 - yes, as @jarryed said, it only works if you turn off in section 1 & 5 of NPI but it actually looks better with the NPI version anyway; only have been trying the SCS version trying to resolve the FPS/stutter issues.

My next step was to try enable the AA fix option in NPI and see if it resolves anything but just never got to it yet, has been raining for the better part of the last two weeks and finally got a gap today to get some yard work done on the acreage.

I'm new here. I've been playing ATS for a short time compared to a lot of people here. But, I've been experiencing stuttering and massive FPS drops in the Idaho DLC.

My Spec is Ryzen 5 2600X RX580 8Gb Gpu and 16 Gb System Memory. All drivers are up to date. All Settings are high apart from Shadows and the Grass texture (or something like that). I've tried a few setting changes, BUT, why should I have to do this just to goto Idaho ?

SSAO is disabled. And running the scaling at 200%, which is fine everywhere else.

Sorry, this isn't helping anyone resolve this matter and people on Steam as well are mentioning the real bad FPS drops.

I thought I cracked it by disabling the AA in game and putting the GPU AA setting on Override Application Settings, Level X4 and Multisampling. But, It's the same unfortunately. I just hope there is a fix, and a lot of people on Steam hope so too.

For me, running with an RX590, it was the "vertical sync - enabled" that caused big drops in fps. When I disabled that I get reasonable 40-60 fps with 200% and SSAO at medium.

But then I got the problem that my video card would go crazy in the menu's and truck configurator: the fps in the dev console (g_minicon 1) would show 250 to 300 fps and the fans of the video card sounded like a vacuum cleaner. It seems that SCS does not limit the framerate in the menu's to a sensible 60 fps. The only workaround I found is to enable the Chill mode in the Radeon settings. Radeon Chill will on-purpose put the video card into a low-power state to keep the frame rate between 55 - 75 fps (settable). So this has fixed my problem of the GPU going mad when ATS is in the main menu, map, or truck configurator.

But seriously SCS: rendering your static menu's at max frame rate... not nice.

I have Vsync on. Because when i look left and right in the cab it's nice and smooth. When I turn it off, OMG stuttery.

Multisampling is not any less resource than 400% scaling almost using same methods (artificial enlargement and reduce back to screen size for AA), it is almost same effect using with SSAO.

Same for me. Never had performance issues and stable 60 fps. Until 1.38 release and Idaho DLC i have stuttering in different situations. Strange thing -> it makes no difference to change graphic settings. Not event to change resolution from 4k (i have a 4k monitor) down to fhd changes anything in this stuttering. (FPS just fall down to 55-58 but it feels a lot worse). My specs: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 and RTX 2070. CPU is always around 30% and GPU around 70% (with full graphic settings except for scale ->100%). No changes in workload during stuttering...

I recently fixed stuttering (more like rubber band effect) by simply turning off vsync. I have a 120hz monitor that vsync forced to 60 fps (causing the rubber band I imagine). By turning it off and checking with Steam FPS, I noticed 400% scaling was too much (~40 fps). I lowered to 200% and flow now nicely with 90-120 fps. It still had rubber band if I left vsync on, so watch out for that one.

That said I notice the same that fps jumps to 300+ in menu. I may look into the control panel for the card itself and just override the gfx settings there. Whatever works, right.

For me SSAO even at low make the game stutter and off it is smooth again, using 2080ti, Like Squirrel yesterday on Twitch, he is using a 2080ti and had to disable SSAO to get smooth gameplay using a monitor that only moves 4.2mill pixels, that is not good

I have the exact same problem with a gtx 1050ti and when my fps goes down from 60 to 58 it feels like a rubberband effect and is mainly in Idaho.

Disabling vertical synchronization helped my FPS. It governs the FPS to 60 fps or 30 fps if on economic. Now I can run everything on high, SSAQ, HDR and 200% scaling and still be above 100fps......:) I had searched for a post or manual describing what each setting in the setting sections of the game do, but with no luck. Finally found a post recommending shutting it off and now I am experimenting with it.
