VR - experimental support
Re: Oculus Rift - experimental support
Hi guys,
I recently got back into the game and bought some DLC during the sale. Still one of the best VR games out there, just love going on long rides through Europe.
The performance is not exactly great on my Rift S though. I have everything set to the highest settings, but no additional super sampling. In the cities I often get framedrops, some as low as 40 frames. I have some mods installed for additional traffic vehicles, better rain etc. But nothing to crazy, I guess, but the problem also occurs without mods.
My specs are:
Ryzen 3900x @ 4.3 Ghz
Gerforce RTX 2080 Ti OC
16GB of 3200 Ram
Game is installed on an m2 ssd
Are they any special tweaks to improve my performance? Or is any of the graphical settings known to cause performance problems?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Oculus Rift - experimental support
@Kobra Kay I'm on an Odyessey plus, using motion reprojection, and I find that scaling (built in supersampling I believe) set to 200% (vs. max 400%) keeps the game looking pretty clean. I could have additional supersampling though, would have to go check to be sure. Mirrors are always low hanging fruit if you can find a nice compromise. I've seen some really nice gains in overall smoothness tweaking those in the past. As always shadows are worth a look as well. I have not tweaked the new SSAO setting all that much to know it well but probably worth looking at as well. I run a 3600X and 1080 and after this last update, went from max settings besides scaling, to lowering my scaling value one step and the SSAO a bit and I got back my smooth framerate.

Re: Oculus Rift - experimental support
Is there a area where we can post bug report about the VR version or can we just post here?
Re: Oculus Rift - experimental support
@Shad0w_General Try posting it here, in the Bugs 1.38 forum: viewforum.php?f=275
Re: Oculus Rift - experimental support
Tried the latest version of both ETS and ATS, disabled all mods but can see some weird flickering / flashing. Anyone have seen that?
Re: Oculus Rift - experimental support
I’ve noticed that at any ssao setting other then high, gives me many shadow artifacting. It’s really odd.

Tried to by a Renault T but I can’t drive it. The game crashes then.
Tried to get a fast job in italy and game crashes there too.
Is it a known big, that game crashes when we want to drive this truck?
Or could someone drive those?

Re: Oculus Rift - experimental support
No known issues with either Italy or Renault T causing crashes.
Try verifying your game files.
Right click on game, select properties, goto local files tab and press verify game files.
If that doesn't work post your game.log.txt to pastebin.com (no account needed) and then post the link here and we'll have a look for you.
The file can be found at "C:\Users\*USERNAME*\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2" for a default install.

Anybody else get this today? (ATS, but ETS2 also got an update on the VR beta branch)

I know the main branch was having a lot of map touch-ups done after 1.38. Is this those fixes?
Thanks again, Komat, for everything you do.

I've tried it now but I can't seem to drive the Renault T model.
This is my Pastebin:

I see some errors. One of it are openable windows not found. This is one I've complained before a few days.
Now I can't drive the Renault T model. It instantly crashes.
