Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
I only have a 4th gen core i5-4670K,8 GB of ram and an old GTX 660.I can run the game just fine.
So,it's either your PC or your settings,@TheTiger.

Dirt, or you can call it "dust" means particle system, am will take a lot of FPS. If it will be implement as a gradual texture, like it is in FS19, then will not take as much fps but it will be "meh". But if you take as example, World of Tanks where dust is taken by the wind, I'm pretty sure ETS2 can't handle this with a single-core.\flight50 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2020 08:09 @TheTiger Your pc may not be able to handle it but you don't speak for everyone. We all have different pc's that is capable of handling what SCS throws at us. Dirt would have very little impact I am sure. Its not something that has polygons to it. Its pretty much a texture map with opacity maps.
@Virgo91 I'm pretty sure you never played ETS2 in ultra... or if you do, you are staying between 24-30 fps. I'm a guy dependent of 60fps at least and I can assure you that my i7-8750H with GTX 1050 4GB and 16GB of RAM can handle this poor game optimisation with all on ultra, also. But my PC power is limited by the engine of the game, cuz is using only one core instead of 6 and sometimes where are dense forest, or traffic, or heavy rain it goes bellow 60fps.
EDIT: Here is a demonstration where GTX 2080Ti also struggle with this game.

Dirt is a layer on the truck. It won't push the system that much more.
There's already a particle system in the game.
As someone also on 4k ultra (100% scaling though) I see little reason to scale above 100%, he's pushing the system unnecessarily IMO. At 100% scaling on 4k the game looks amazing and I get 60fps on a i5 7500 & GTX 1060.
Higher in less populated areas I've see 100+ in some cases. I do occasionally hit 55 in the bigger heavier dlc cities. But really why push the system unnecessarily? If you want true system bashing gaming try the new MS flight sim at 4k. I love my 15fps (which is still butter smooth for some reason).

MSFS 2020 It makes my computer noisier than normal and takes day or two to downloads after purchase, but I back to playing ATS and ETS2 MSFS 2020 felt like rerun of fsx where it slide show and the blurries on the ground flying Cessna 152 are no fun with bad stutters this is throwing rtx 2080 gpu and I5 8600k at 4.3 at it lol.

Off topic. I play almost exclusively msfs2020 for the last two weeks. I can't get enough of it. The graphics quality is amazing. It Is strange I get 20-25 fps in 4k and somehow is really smooth.
There are naive questions, tedious questions, ill-phrased questions, questions put after inadequate self-criticism. But every question is a cry to understand the world. There is no such thing as a dumb question.

I have i5 9700 and rtx2070 and it seems to work smoth on ultra. However, I'm using FHD resolution and locking it to 30fps. I'm very happy with performance of FS2020.angrybirdseller wrote: ↑09 Sep 2020 09:23 MSFS 2020 It makes my computer noisier than normal and takes day or two to downloads after purchase, but I back to playing ATS and ETS2 MSFS 2020 felt like rerun of fsx where it slide show and the blurries on the ground flying Cessna 152 are no fun with bad stutters this is throwing rtx 2080 gpu and I5 8600k at 4.3 at it lol.

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
@TheTiger i just did a test on ultra,100% : playbable.No 60 or 120 fps,tho.If you seek 60 fps and/or put the scaling at 400%,i don't see it as SCS problem.
Only used game settings, default NPI and control panel settings.
I will keep my post, even tho someone will jump badly on me.I don't care

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
I just play with 100% on ultra FullHD and NPI 2x just to keep a better AA and also the average of FPS above 60. But, this game really needs a multi core process.
And speaking about smoothness on other games on 30 or below...example GTA V, MFS2020, snowrunner etc is feels very well but in ETS2 is just feels laggy.

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
I did a quick run again.I have to drop my settings a little bit.The GTX 660 is what,8 years old?The recommended GPU,iirc it's a GTX 760Ti.There one can clearly see my GPU isn't made to run this game on ultra.
October this year can be the time to change my GPU,finally.October budget will let my buy one.I'm still thinking about the GTX 1650.The rest of my PC is still very fine right now.
But,as my budget will be a little bit higher,i might look somewhere else.

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
What makes a game stutter does not only depend on raw fps, it may be necessary to look at low percentiles too. If those are good, even low fps (20-30 depending on the game type) may look smooth. Maybe MS did a good optimizing job here. But the more raw fps and low percentiles differ, the more stutter there will be, of course also when raw fps vary a lot.
