Note: The Monument in its current form appears on the video. The photos below serve as a reference for the construction and modeling of the city's public cultural monument. So when doing the modeling, please disregard the black colored sign that is in front of the monument. The information sign was replaced by another, more readable white sign located on the side of the monument. The change is due to the fact that people are very fond of taking pictures on the front of the monument.

Mask of Remorse (Маска Скорби)

Explanation of the monument.
In 1996, a monument to the victims of the political repression of the Stalinist regime, the "Mask of Sadness", was inaugurated on the Krutaya hill in Magadaan, far east of Russia. The mask is on a hill and can be seen from all over the city of Magadan, the sculpture is very impressive and seems to be "looking" at the city.
The central sculpture of the memorial represents a human face. The eyebrows and nose form a cross, from one eye a tear runs down, from the human faces (expressing sadness for the victims of the Stalin regime), and the other eye represents a window with a lattice and a bell that strikes and resonates (when there are especially strong winds) in remembrance of souls.
The monument is located 200 meters above sea level. The "mask" sits on a 56 square meter high pedestal, which is constructed of monolithic reinforced concrete. The height of the monument itself is 18.5 meters, 100 steps lead to it.

Inside the monument, there are fragments to know: fragment of an industrial concentration camp zone - "Gulag", an exact copy of a '' solitary '' prison cell of '' Gulag '' time of Stalinism, were reconstructed .
There is also a large map of Russia, which says written in Russian that many people died in the regime's camps.
The sculptor Ernst Neizvestny planned to create three of these monuments and create the "Triangle of Sorrow" (in the main cities of the GULAGs of the Soviet communist regime). In 2017, another 'Mask of Sorrow' 'was opened near Yekaterinburg. The third mask in Vorkuta has never been created, until now. The cultural artist, Ernst Neizvestny, whose parents were victims of political repression, received the State Prize for Russian Federation for his work at the memorial, artifacts for the exhibition were delivered from the concentration camps of: Dneprovsky (Днепровский), Butugychag (Бутугычаг).
On the hill, there are 11 individual concrete block listings, with the names of the concentration camps'GULAG '' in Kolyma: Dneprovsky (Днепровский), Butugychag (Бутугычаг), Dzhelgala (Джелгала), Maldyak ), Dagger (Кинжал), Khenikandzha (Хениканджа), Kanyo (Каньон), Maglag (Маглаг), Elgen (Эльген), Severny (Северный).
At the site of the installation of the mask sculpture (monument), during Stalin's time, there was a "Transitka" (a sorting post from which prisoners were sent to different concentration camps in Kolyma under the Stalinist regime).

These locations hundreds of thousands of Russians were murdered by the Stalinist ideological regime. Every year, on October 30, '' Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Political Repression ''.

Note: The information posted here has no connotation or personal political opinion. Only historical information about the Monument (which is of great importance to the city). The monument is one of the main ones.

OBS: Soon, if possible, we will be posting other important monuments of the city of Magan related to other topics (under research). Hopefully the videos and photos can be useful for building the monument to the games in the future.

Video 1 (2014)

This video is very interesting:
- aerial panoramic show with drone.
- shows the structure of the monument in the original cement.
- shows the "blocks with some rocks with religious symbols of the religions practiced in Russia (because the victims of the Stalinist regime were people of different religions. The Stalinist ideology had its own religion of worship to the leader).
- shows the name of the concentration and extermination camps created by the regime in the region).
- shows the interior of the monument with its 2 rooms for reflection on the terror of the gulags (slave labor in mining. tirtula in solitary cells), showing many real objects found in those places referring to that Soviet historical period.
- The video has a historian with historical explanations about the period.
The video displays inside the Monument in the form of internal signs in different languages of the peoples of the former USSR, with information. Some in English (universal to foreign tourists).

During World War 2, a route was traced in the skies over Russia, over Chukotka, Kolyma and Yakutsk, along which Soviet pilots carried American Alaska fighter planes received under the Allied military aid program: ''Lend-Lease''.

The monument is dedicated to the Heroes of '' ALSIBA '' and is located in Magadan. The memorial captured the greetings of Soviet and American pilots against the backdrop of an airplane wing, symbolizes the cooperation of the two powers - the USSR and the United States, and is dedicated to the brave military pilots.

The monument is dedicated to the feat of the personnel of the '' 1st Red Flag Aviation Division '' of the Civil Air Fleet of the Alaska-Siberia air route, located at 13 km, on the Kolyma federal highway, in the curve for the old air terminal building . The memorial will remind those who travel to Magadan of the heroic episode of the Great Patriotic War (World War 2). Russia has a pleasant memory of the contribution of the coalition allies against Hitler's expansion in the European part of Russia, towards the final common victory.

The region and Russian miltarians will never forget Soviet-American military cooperation against military invasions that have taken place. The remarkable American-Russian allied cooperation during the Great Patriotic War (World War II), the legendary Alaska-Siberia route, "ALSIBA '', which American military equipment was delivered to the USSR by air.

The Alaska-Siberia route operated from 1942 to 1945 between Fairbanks (Alaska) and Krasnoyarsk in Russia, and passed through aerodromes and runways in the Magadan region in the region's capital, and in the villages of Seimchan, Berelekh. It was the Soviet part of the air route for the transportation of American aircraft supplied to the USSR under the American military aid plan called '' Lend-Lease '' to improve the Russian defenses of the Hitler invasion underway in that war. And it also had other support features to feed the troops and the Russian people.

The flight route had two phases, the start of flights along the US - Uelkal - Anadyr - Seimchan route, and later by Yakutsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk is considered to be its operational start on October 7, 1942. 7,926 American combat aircraft and transport were delivered to the Soviet Air Force under the Lend-Lease Agreement between the US and the then USSR from 1942 to 1945.

Anything could happen to airplanes at the time, which lacked location equipment, on this most difficult heroic path.
The section of the route that ended in Yakutia, based in the village of Seimchan was the most intense and difficult of the entire route - it traversed the high mountain territory and over the arctic pole of the extreme cold of Oymyakon (the coldest place on the planet). Pilots had to fly at high altitudes wearing oxygen masks and at very low temperatures. The flight lasted about four hours, in this section and almost all the aircraft had no heating.

The pilots had to overcome great adversities. During the period of existence of the air flight route, 113 pilots died in 44 air accidents, 81 aircraft were lost. The Lend-Lease aircraft were to equip Soviet air combat regiments. In addition to military equipment, other things were also transported: gold, mica, food, postal services, including diplomatic documents and diplomatic personnel. They were transported along the route, with more than 5,000 kilometers of extension, 18,753 tons of cargo and 128,371 passengers. The author of the memorial project was Andrei Kovalchuk.

Then remember this memorial on your route to Magadan.

Monument: Lenin (Памятник Ленину - Магадан)

The first monument to Lenin in the central square of the city was opened in early 1949.
Link: ... fe62110f87

The sculpture, designed by architect Lipkovsky, was made in Moscow, and then transported in parts to Magadan, where the final assembly was carried out. Link:

"Moskovsky" Lenin remained in place until 1987, when he was transported to the village of Ust-Omchug. To coincide with the 70th anniversary of the 1917 Communist Revolution. Link:

The bronze figure was cast in the Artistic Foundry Factory "Monument-Sculpture" in Leningrad. The central square was rebuilt especially for the arrival of Lenin's new statue. 'A stylobat (Link: of 25 × 20 meters in size and 40 cm in height was placed on top of it, covered with granodiorite tiles. A 5-meter-high pedestal was reinforced in the stylobat, lined with pink granite slabs ordered from Monchegorsk¹ (Мончего́рск)''. Reference: ... vili_shipy

The monument was inaugurated on October 10, 1987 in the '' Lenin square, '' now renamed the Cathedral square (where the current '' Cathedral of the Holy Trinity '' is located). ''Perestroika'' historical time and monument in the square, end of a regime (photo 1991):

The sculpture lasted only 16 years, after which, due to the reconstruction of the square, and a new political era, the monument was removed and transported to the “Praça dos Cosmonautas”, where it still stands today. The statue has a lower and more modest position on the pedestal than in the original. During the search it was not possible to find information on the current height of the pedestal where the statue is located.
Until 1985, the building of the environment of the square '' House of Soviets '' (Link: ... -086-b.jpg) was erected and was paired with the statue.

After 1985 the building remained unfinished the USSR was already without much financial resources to the colossal project. The statue was there facing the front of the construction of the building. The statue "witnessed" the first signs of the collapse of his regime created by Lenin in 1917, with the work unfinished.

In 2001, the statue "witnessed '' the restoration of Russia with the beginning of the construction of the '' Cathedral of the Holy Trinity '' (in front of it). The statue of the communist leader '' witnessed" the inauguration of the Cathedral (we will talk about in another post by Cathedral). In its place in the cathedral square is today, the statue of "Saint Innocent - Christian missionary from Siberia and Alaska" (Alaska, today state of the USA). We will talk in another post about the monument of '' São Innocent ''.

Finally, in 2003, ''Lenin'' statue was transferred to Praça dos Cosmonautas. '' Lenin '' is now elsewhere in the city, close to the KGB building. This was the historical summary of the Monument.

Link: ... 21187.html

7. Photo Sometimes it is possible to find rose flowers at the feet of the statue.
Link: ... wa0067.jpg

7.1 Especially on some dates it is possible to see roses.
Link: ... wa0043.jpg

7.2 . Small support groups (especially elderly people longing for the past regime) of Lenin and his "comrades", deposit flowers here and now hold their little rallies on Soviet remembrance holidays. Link: ... wa0058.jpg

7.3 Commemorative information plaque: “Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. Founder of the first state of workers and peasants in the world. USSR ".
The plaque is inserted in the front, in the statue's pedestal. Link: ... ska004.jpg
The phrase on the sign in Russian: ''Владимир Ильич Ленин. Основатель первого в мире государства рабочих и крестьян. СССР''.

8. The monument preserves the same characteristics of dimensions, and other things, as in the period of its inauguration in 1987.
However, it does not have a pink marble covering from Monchegorsk and granodiorite, it does not appear to be on the statue's pedestal.

Link: https://travelleronamission.files.wordp ... c00207.jpg

During the research, it was not possible to determine the nature of the material used on the statue's pedestal. We suspect that the material used is cement, with a little sophisticated masonry work (in the texture of the 4 faces of the statue's pedestal).

9. Would the '' visual effect '' be the work generated by the "revolutionary" actions of the "comrades" pigeons and seagulls, would it be some kind of "animal revolution"?

Link: ... %D0%BD.png

The reality of the statue today (it may be unpleasant for some people, but it is a reality that the city landmark has). It's just a search.

10. Flagrant. Would it be a revolutionary action in an attempt to '' Animal revolution ''?

10.1 Link: ... 13.jpg/htm

10.2 Link: ... 13.jpg/htm

The reality is that the Monument is periodically targeted by pigeons and seagulls in the city. Periodically the monument is also cleaned, several ways have been tried to contain the '' vandalism '' of pigeons, seagulls, the results of reducing the effects have not been effective.

So for future simulation of the monument in the games of SCS Software, the monument allows many things with animated characters, and the square of the cosmonauts as well. In the future when the map reaches the Asian part of Russia and Magadan. The creative team should be remembered and suggested for random events:

1. The statue periodically on dates of the old Soviet calendar, has small groups of admirers who pay tribute of honor to the Soviet leader.
Even with red flags. Includes date of birth and death.

Link: Video:

2. Routinely someone puts a flower at the base of the monument. So simulating characters by placing a flower is also acceptable and realistic.
Link: ... ska003.jpg

3. People feed pigeons on the square regularly.
This would be realistic especially in the summer obviously. I couldn't tell if the pigeons remain in the spring, autumn or winter.

Some neighborhoods even had signs on which it would be forbidden to feed the pigeons.
Card type link:

Universal sign in Russia for public spaces where it is forbidden to feed birds. Written in Russian sometimes below the icon: "It is forbidden to feed birds".
Link: ... t-ptic.jpg

Example of a plaque in another Russian city, Petrozavodsk (Sometimes it can be accompanied by some type of explanatory text of the norm.) Link: ... D1%8B1.jpg

In Magadan feeding birds was generating fines between 2,5000 rubles and 5,000 rubles, but it seems that the municipality did not have an official law prohibiting the practice (in 2020). Link: The video has a scene of feeding pigeons in the city.

Signs prohibiting the feeding of pigeons in city squares, and other public spaces appear to have started in 2019, as shown in the link beside information in Russian: Link: ... lubej.html

The question of pigeons (it is an information) important to be better investigated, more attentively when creating the map in the city of Magadan, and the monument. This is the monument (it is the one most affected by pigeons, for some reason, inexplicable). Although there are also a large number of seagulls in the city. Feeding pigeons and seagulls is practically a '' tradition '' in the city. Regardless of this, there will probably always be actions of birds on statues and monuments.

4. Sometimes it is possible to catch a pigeon on the statue's head.
Link: ... iginal.jpg

5. Periodically the monument has a team to clean. Particularly in the summer and end summer.
Link: ... 0f83f1.jpg

The images of the statue during the winter do not have traces of the ''revolutionary Pombaline actions and seagulls''. But before the winter or months of cold and snow start, it seems to be clean, after the short summer, it always seems to be clean and maintained during the cold period (most of the year).
So there are 5 ideas for the possibility of a random event.

And there could still be other ideas related to the summer, which should occur in the square. The five ideas are just examples of the possibilities of random events, to generate attractiveness for truck drivers who are traveling on the map of the city of Magadan, discovering the urban landmark.
So that these events of varying frequencies, can allow unique experiences for the players. with the city space.

¹ Monchegorsk is a center for the production of nickel, cobalt and copper and pink marble. '' Pink granite is found in the Vinga deposit (Винга депозит), which is located 40 kilometers west of the Poyakonda - Nolozero fork (Пояконда - Нолозеро), in Leningrad '' (quote from reference: Other active mineral information from the Russian northwest, European part can be found in the reference).

Saint Innocent of Alaska and Metropolitan of Moscow (Святой Иннокентий Аляскинский и митрополит Московский)

Brief history: ... aska_4.jpg
Historical portrait (current) The missionary as a young man. Detail: Marian medallion on the chest.

Saint Inocencio, Metropolitan of Moscow (born Russian Russian with the name: Ivan Evseevich Popov-Veniaminov), was born on August 26, 1797 in the village of Anginsky, in the Irkutsk region. After graduating from the seminary, he was ordained a priest in 1821, and in 1823, by decree of the Holy Synod, he was sent to fulfill the challenging missionary service in the Far East, Alaska and the Russian Aleutian Islands of that time.
During 45 years (1823-1868) of his service to the enlightenment of the peoples of Kolyma, Kamchatka, Yakutia, Khabarovsk Territory, Aleutian Islands, Alaska (North America), Saint Inocencio baptized tens of thousands of people, built temples, founded schools , taught the local indigenous population in several: handicrafts, art, science.

During his numerous travels, Saint Innocent studied the language, life and customs of the peoples among whom he preached. His works in: geography, ethnography and linguistics have gained worldwide fame. The saint went down in history as the founder of the city of Blagoveshchensk.

He compiled the alphabet and grammar of the Aleutian language and translated the Catechism, the Gospel and many prayers for the people of the Aleutian archipelago. One of his best works "Indication of the Way to the Kingdom of Heaven" (1833) was translated into several languages of the small peoples of Siberia and had more than 40 editions. Thanks to the work of Santo Inocencio, many nations for the first time heard the Word of God and divine services in their own language, he was a talented scientist (ethnographer, linguist).

In 1840, the archimandrite made him ordained bishop of: Kamchatka, Kurilas and Aleutians The newly formed diocese of the Far East also included the territory of the modern Magadan region and Alaska.
As a bishop, he made several missionary trips throughout the vast territory of his diocese, continuing his educational work with the local population. In the saint's travel diary, which he kept during his second trip to Kamchatka and the Okhotsk region in 1846 and 1847, there are references to Kolyma's old parishes in: Tauisk, Gizhiga, Yamsk. In 1868 he was elected Metropolitan of Moscow, Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

As Metropolitan of Moscow, Saint Innocent worked hard to improve the lives of the peoples of the north, to improve teaching, to alleviate the missionary difficulties of the clergy and to spread charity. For the spiritual care of remote regions, he created the Orthodox Missionary Society.

Saint Innocent rested in ethernity on March 31, 1879 and was buried in Trindade-Sergius Lavra. On October 6, 1977, Holy Innocence was glorified among the saints by the Russian Orthodox Church. His memory is expected to be celebrated twice a year: on April 13, the day of his blessed death, and on October 6, on the day of glorification.

Monument: Statue.

A century and a half has passed since the moment the saint's foot touched the land on the northern coast of the Okhotsk Sea.
During this time, two regimes ceased to dominate Russia - the Tsarist Empire of Russia and the Soviet Communist regime and its USSR, until the resurrection of Christianity and the Russian people, and the gllorrificification of the efforts of Kolyma's holy hero in the central square of Magadan.

The monument is made of bronze. Its height with the pedestal is about 8 meters.
São Innocent, is the main monument of the capital of Kolyma in the main square of the region. In the past, the statue of communist leader Lenin was in the square, now there is the statue of an orthodox saint, '' Saint Innocent - '' Apostle of Siberia and Alaska 'and hero of Kolyma.

Religious worship
We must start from the idea that regular religious events take place in the central square, in Magadan, at least twice a year with worship of the memory of this holy (virtuous) being: April 13 (the day of his blessed death), and the 6th October (the day of his glorification).
Specific reference church in magadan:

Suggestion: A research tip in this regard (know about religious events, what kind of outdoor activities in the square and monument). This could become a regular event (on specific dates) and different in the urban space in the game, when it arrives in the Asian part of Russia.

The next stage of research will be the Cathedral that is in front of the Monument.

Note: The purpose of this research is to provide some materials that may be useful for the construction of future maps of Russia in the Asian part. Just to clarify the reader: There is still a lot to be done ... just from the city of Magadã there are about 40 main monuments in the city. Probably some will be omitted.

By criterion; we are looking for the main monuments that are relevant from the historical and social point of view of the city, and another factor is the visibility for the truck driver (player).

When the part of the monuments of the city is completed, we will look for the Economic part of the city and later finalizing the studies and videos on the route between; Magadan- city of irkutsk.

There are some videos, some even quite long and interesting, lasting an hour or two. However, most of the videos take place in winter, which is not ideal - ETS2 and ATS games have a summer atmosphere.

"But we can never complain in a negative sense, right"! This is what we have for today, this is it. So we have to work with what we find.
And again openly: this space is open, for contributions. There are many monuments and I will make a list and leave it soon, for people who want to help in the research project of the city of Magadãn. Later we will move on to the smaller sites in the territory, which is very rich, especially in mining. So whoever likes ETS2 and ATS to pull cargo to mining areas, this territory of Russia will be your paradise.

Orthodox cathedral in Magadan. (Троицкий собор)

It is both a cult building and an architectural monument to the victims of repression, it is magnificent in architecture.
Holy Trinity Cathedral was the ancient Russian architecture of Vladimir-Novgorod. The main staircase leading to the cathedral is comparable in magnitude to the Spanish Steps in Rome. The Trinity Cathedral is one of the tallest in Russia: the height of the central dome with a cross is 71.2 m.
The five-domed temple with golden domes, kokoshniks and an elegant arcade belt was erected in 2008 and enshrined three years later. With a height of 70 m, the church has an area of about 9 thousand square meters. The cathedral's interiors shine with polished, golden Ural granite and impressive paintings.

Until 1985, the building of the House of Soviets was built on this site, which remained unfinished. The metallic structure, partially disassembled, is taken as a base for the support structures of the cathedral. The construction of the cathedral began in 2001. And on September 14, 2003, the first Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity under construction. In the same year, the monument to V.I.Lenin, erected in front of the failed House of Soviets, was transferred to Praça dos Cosmonautas.

The walls were completed in 2008. The cathedral was painted by masters from Palekh.
Two large icons for iconostasis, each 3 meters high, were painted by Trinity icon painters, Sergius Lavra.
The cathedral was consecrated on September 1, 2011 by Patriarch Kirill.

For 10 years, about 900 million rubles were spent on building the cathedral, both from the budget and from donations from Kolyma's faithful and the capital.
