Trucks with the most range.

#1 Post by Izmaragon » 08 Nov 2020 05:50

In terms of 4x2 fuel tank.

Quite inadvertently, it seems scs has given this title to the daf 105, the extra fuel tank 4x2 chassis with over 4000 miles of range on one fill up. I just put like 300+ 105s into my driver fleet, all 4x2 extra tank versions. my reasoning is that it makes for more profit than any other model I've seen....

Mind you, I've only looked at scania ng R 4x2 with 1200some miles per fill up.

Are there any variations any one else tends to use for range in terms of fuel consumption?

AI drivers fill the deposit after every job so, unless they are doing really very long distances jobs, they have no benefit on having such enormous deposits.

Also the range comes from the average fuel consume too. I don't know the DAF performance in that aspect but as far as I noticed it seems that Iveco trucks have one of the best and the Stralis has "only" 100l less of fuel capacity.

The AI drivers don't model fuel stops so the size of tank you give them is utterly irrelevant.

also, load and terrain also have a big factor, what ratio you have on your diff, how lead footed you are as well

The most i've achieved is 7.450 km until my range was about 10km or so, i did it using a New Gen XF 450 with a direct drive gearbox and 2.21 final drive ratio on super efficent michelin tires, average cargo weight about 10t, the route i took was on Promods Cluj-Napoca (Ro) - Valencia (E) - Luga (Ru). Max speed was 90kph where the limit allowed it, in 80 kph limits i did 85kph. Used the engine break and retarder at max potential, it's not hard to achieve good gas mileage in this game, you just need to know when to change gears and to anticipate. To give u a more recent value, i managed to get 29 l/100km with a DAF XF euro 6 440, loaded with about 28t from Groningen to Le Havre

This is fun.... I have made a test drive with two trucks on a 309 km route between Mannheim and Stuttgart.

The first drive was with the XBS DAF 3600 to set a marker...

The second drive was a "official" testdrive

There's no difference in fuel comsumption wat so ever.
I'm planning to do some more testing but i think that the fuel consumption is not very realistic. You would aspect a bigger difference between an brand new truck and the old one

check if fuel consumption simulation is on, also the Range T used the same amount of fuel even though it has more power, this IS a difference

Truck age doesn't affect fuel consumption in any way. I think damage does though.

The difference in power is true. But there are so much more differences. So you would expect a different fuelconsumption to.
But i wil check if fuel consumption simulation is on. Thanks for the tip

O yes age does effect fuel consumption. Older trucks run much higher rpm's than now a day's.
