I think DC will get roads in it whether its a state or not. Now getting depots in it will be a different story. I think that is what Larry is referring to perhaps. There is no industry in DC but there is some scenic site seeing. Making DOC a state serves no purpose. I wonder why they are going that route.

The closet depot to DC should be perhaps these depots. Right off of US-50 East of DC. If SCS can squeeze US-395 in along with US-50, I like this addition. Lowe 's and Costco are pretty much all over the US. Where there is not a Home Depot or Sam's Club, these are what you put in place. Where there is not a Walmart, Target goes in. In most cases, the others are down the street not to far away. Its either on or the other. Dick would be a nice new prefab as well. Its goes along with Bass Pro and Cabela's.

I made this concept map for Washington, DC. I-295/DC-295 is the only actual freeway that connects to two ends of the city, so I think that should be in there. I didn't see anything about trucks not being allowed on the 14st Street Bridge (I-395 over the Potomac River), so I think I-395 and I-695 have a chance to being in the game. DC-295 turns into MD-201 at the state line, which connects to US-50. You can't go any further than that because trucks are not allowed on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. I-495 (the Capital Beltway) is most certainty going to be in ATS seeing how important it is.

I did some looking around for industries and places to deliver, and I think I came up with a good list. I think anything inside of the Beltway loop on the Maryland side could be lumped into DC to give it more locations to deliver to. On the Virginia side, I see either Arlington or Alexandria being their own city just over the border from DC similar to how Portland and Vancouver are in Washington (state) and Oregon in ATS. So I added the Home Depot in Capitol Heights and the Peterbilt truck dealer and UPS warehouse in Landover, all of which are right off the Beltway. Off DC-295, I see that Pepco Electric, a very well know electric company around here, has a big facility, so that looks like it could be a good place to deliver to. Maybe that will finally provide a reason to allow us to haul utility poles and streetlights on flatbed trailers. I like the shopping plaza with the Lowe's and Costco that Shiva linked. I also like the USPS warehouse. Near the USPS warehouse, there's also a large Amtrak yard (Yes I realize now that I spelled it wrong on my map, oh well). We have the rail cargo loads for flatbed trailers in ETS2 that were added with the Baltic Sea DLC. If SCS adds those to ATS, we can deliver them to places like Amtrak.

It would be nice to see some sight of D.C. in ATS. I was born in D.C. when my parents lived in Northern Virginia back a long time ago.

On an unrelated note, I see FedEx Field right there on the map, my father took my grandfather to see a Washington vs Eagles Football game there many years ago since my grandfather was a Washington NFL fan. It would be nice to see a reference to one of the Sports teams in Washington in ATS since there are references already in the game to the NBA Trailblazers in Portland, The NFL Seahawks in Seattle, the NCAA Broncos in Boise, and the NFL Broncos in Denver, I am also a MLB Nationals fan since I was born in D.C.

Nationals Park was visible from I-695 several years ago, but there was explosive urban development in the Navy Yard neighborhood in the past few years, so now the view is blocked by buildings. It still can be seen on the skyline from across the Anacostia River when driving on DC-295 though. I don't recall, but I don't think FedEx Field is visible from the highway.

Yes, the 14th Street bridges would be the southwest "West" connection to/from DC.
I might someday dig up the DC truck routes, but now? I'll try get some sleep.

@Shiva If you go further east from I-295 onto DC-295, you can get a good view of Nats Park. It also provides a really nice view of the overall skyline, even including the dome on the top of the US Capitol Building.

Washington DC would be cool to drive pass and see all the amazing monuments and buildings.

I remember me and my family driving passing through this city while on the way to Florida getting some sightings of the Washington monument and the Pentagon.

@supersobes nice map of DC. I can see that working. The depots that Shiva linked is the exact same snap shot I posted hrs before Shiva. Neither of those stores are in ATS. It if we get them, it should be well before we get DC.

I agree; I'm really looking forward to Pennsylvania. On top of the rich industrial scene, the state also has many unique road and highways. They way they build roads in Pennsylvania isn't like other states. It also holds a piece of highway history as the Pennsylvania Turnpike was the first limited access expressway built in America, opening October 1, 1940.

There's also some pretty nasty grades that trucks have to navigate on the state highways. Also, looking forward to the PITA that is Breezewood. Interesting bit of road.

Now can the game teleport me IRL to the Amish market in Reading? Good eats. Lol.
