Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
Ukiah is looking awesome in the latest blog. It’s further proof that SCS has now embraced complete rebuilds as part of their methodology when dealing with older parts of the map.
@flight50, I am with you in terms of introducing the precast concrete industry. After all, it’s included for ETS2, so I see no reason to leave it out of ATS.
In addition, they mentioned wine production, so I hope wine (and perhaps wine vinegar) will be included as cargo. Heck, they can include wine-making equipment. The more the merrier.

The blog looks very hopeful. Ukiah is currently quite forgettable, I look forward to seeing it leave a stronger impression.
@flight50 I think the concrete tubes being in the "current" picture and not in the "new" picture means they will go away in Ukiah.
But I agree with you that it would be cool to have a company that actually produces these.

Very happy that the Californian cities are undergoing a complete overhaul, at least the scs will not stay with the cities in California for a few years, it is a pity that the same position was not in German cities, we did not have to wait for a complete overhaul of German cities, which Pavel mentioned in one interview that it will happen
Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
I think it looks great! But...I am a little disappointed that they're seemingly keeping the same road layout they had previously. The current Ukiah is based around Perkins St, Orchard Ave, Gobbi St, and Oak Manor Dr. Looks like we're getting those same exact roads but touched up to today's standards. It looks great but I was (am) hoping they include State St to at least Perkins and give us the downtown area like they do in most towns in the new DLCs. Now this may've just been a blog to show off how they've updated certain parts, and I'm so glad they made it feel much more "in town" than it did before, I was just hoping for more of a tear-down. Still friggin excited for this to come out and I'm really hoping 1.44 is it's time! Also Hopland will be cool to see added, so it looks like they're extended US 101 down further than where they did in the last rebuild, which ended right at Ukiah.

The comparison images are very nice, I like this type of images, I can't wait for the second phase of the reworking of California to come out, I'll say it will be in update 1.44 as scs irritates us with blogs

I'm cool with Perkins and Orchard actually. What we have in ATS vs real life is night and day. Not accurate at all. That Walmart is not off Perkins at all. Its two exits down. Now if there is space to have both the Perkins exit and Talmage Rd, then we good to go. What could we get: Home Depot is what should be off Perkins. We have that in game now. We should have Kohl's or JC Penney as a clothing stores. At least one or the other by now. Both are all over over the US. Off Talmage Rd, that is where Walmart is. We have much more accurate Walmarts now. The Walmart in Ukiah is closer to a Super Target.....another store that should be in ATS as the Walmart alternative.

So if we don't get Talmage Rd, I'd be fine with that. Walmart is over used anyways. Now what I'd seriously rather see is the Costco in Ukiah. That is also off Talmage Rd. Its South of Walmart. So a perfect Ukiah to me would be Home Depot, Kohls, Walmart and Costco for retail. If one had to be removed, toss Walmart. We have enough represent in other places around the map. Add in whatever else beyond those retail and now we have a good economy that people would actually get to visit more. I can't tell you the last time I was in Ukiah.
The cool thing about Ukiah is that its long and very slender. In current ATS, there is a ton of space both East and West of US-101. If SCS is now filling this area out, sweet. Go both North and South in Ukiah and make 2 on/off ramps and load it up with some feasible industry. 5-6 depots would be the minimum I'd go with for Ukiah. To much space to not maximize potential. If we got CA-20 just North of Ukiah, that would be the icing on the cake.

Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
They teased us with something related to a hidden road, stating a shortcut. If it is an unmarked road, i wonder where it would go. My initial guess would be a road going to/near Clear Lake. And I am also to assume that the new industry means a new company too, or is that not the case? Even if it means new prefabs i'm actually good, but i really hope a new company gets introduced somewhere regardless, doesn't necessarily have to be in this Ukiah.

Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
Wow, this was a pleasant surprise to come home to tonight! I had no idea Ukiah would get its own blog... my best hopes were a couple of Ukiah pictures included with a bigger California rebuild blog.
The blog mentioned downtown, which is currently not in ATS. None of the pictures showed it, so I'm not really expecting to see it with the limited space they have to work with.
The blog also mentioned adding Hopland. I'm thinking the hidden road would be CA-175, connecting US-101 to Hopland going over the Russian River on this bridge:
https://www.google.com/maps/@38.9714349 ... 384!8i8192
Alternatively they could give us Old River Road that connects to Talmage (Ukiah suburb) on the east side of the Russian River, but that would be a lot more work... maybe we get both?
@flight50 Sorry, Pic 5 is what's already in ATS. The concrete tubes I think are behind the Bitumen. Pic 6 is what they're replacing this with, though the angle is a little different.
I see that they're replacing the pear orchards with vineyards as happened in real life several years ago. That area is right here:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1513683 ... 384!8i8192
I'm curious to see how the overall layout of the town is. Currently they have Perkins Street marked at exit 549, and east of US-101 this seems accurate. However, west of US-101 it seems that they modeled Talmage Road (exit 548A). I'm ok with this as I know they have a lot to cram in to a small area.
As to the multiple vineyards, this is true - there are several on the outskirts of town. From the blog I'm kind of expecting that they're going to add a Darchelle Uzau to Ukiah, along with several "scenic" vineyards that you can't deliver to. If they want to impress me more they could make this one a new company and add more new companies when they get to rebuilding Napa.
The grass looks more realistic, as things are usually kind of brown in the summer there. Many of the trees don't look quite right, but I suppose they could be placeholders.
No mentions of a lumber company, or of adding CA-20, but it looks like we're already getting more than I was expecting without losing anything that was already there.
Edit: Also, could get Old River Road south of Hopland to US-101 which connects just south of this bridge on US-101 that would be awesome to have in ATS:
https://www.google.com/maps/@38.9536675 ... 384!8i8192
Edit #2: It seems what I was referring to as pictures 5 & 6 are now pictures 7 & 8.

Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
To me, new industry is automatic new company. But SCS could easily roll that into an existing company as part of a chain/middle man company. As many new companies that come to ETS2, "new" company is not the issue. SCS has to want to make new ATS companies and everything associated with making it function. I think Montana could be a huge start of change for new companies and I'm super excited to see this growth come forth. More industries for several trailers get more with Montana's industries. Anything w.i.p can benefit from Montana just like Montana can benefit from both Texas and California. Its great that so many of you all have joined me to express the need for company diversity. Its staring to show up in the newer maps. ATS's newer economy can be a huge plus for company diversity coming. When Idaho came with nothing, that is when I seriously started analyzing ATS's issues with the economy. Its ICCs and it been glowing brightly up to Montana's industry blog. Montana will pump some fresh meat into ATS just like I hope California and Texas will. Imagine traveling from a completely rebuilt California, to Texas to Montana. Everything in between would be up to par or on its way being up to par.
Glad to hear California will not just piggyback off newer content and do a copy paste. California can introduce " brand new" companies just like a dlc can. In fact, I expect it. I find it hard to put in this much work and go as far as just rebuilding everything not spice up California. One thing I've said a few time in the past is if California is getting rebuild, do it justice and make it right economy wise. Tons of new companies can come to the base map. Obviously tons won't fit but figure of speech. By the time the US is completed, I'd love to see 18-24 brand new national chain companies. A handful of these could debut with California to help populate the US imo. If California has like 20+ cities, a lot of these companies can come to areas that are shopping areas or industrial areas. We could get 2-3 or 3-4 areas where companies are grouped nicely. My list to add to the only defined national chains in Home Depot, USBB, Charged and Walmart would be to add:
1) Lowes
2) Target
3) Kohl's
4) Jc Penny
6) Sam's Club
7) Costco
8) Amazon
9) Albertson's
10) Kroger
12) Swift
13) JB Hunt
14) Ikea
15) US Cold Storage
16) Forterra or equal
17) Kraft
18) Frito Lay
19) Kimberly Clark
20) Proctor Gamble
21) Pepsi Co
22) CarMax
23) AutoNation
24) Dow
25) BASF
26) Deere or equal
Is that too much...I don't think so. That list above can transport tons of cargo. Its still not enough but the above would be a huge dent into the national chain. The list for regional companies can be just as large. Between both regional and national, we could be looking at 50 companies alone. That still is not as many as ETS2. ATS's economy can be as broad as SCS wants it to be. I sure hope they'd choose to open the flood gates up though. All trailers should get an increase in usage over the years. To do that, we need more industries. With more industries comes more new companies. All that together means more cargo. Cargo being the reason the game exist, needs to have specialist to create it all....hint hint.

I am fine with new Ukiah layout and walmart, but new winery company along with new setup would be nice, and new residental home prefab layout with dropping off rented equipment and then come back couple days later to pickup.
At least we know scs going to rebuild original cities.
