100% GPU 3090 and i9 12900k

#1 Post by MDBGaming » 28 Jan 2022 18:40

So I have just built a new computer and on my previous build I had the issue of 100% GPU and GPU crashing due to to aura messing it up. So on the new build ive done a fresh instal with the newest updates and no Aura problem now but the 100% GPU is still there no matter what setting I use and its becoming a joke now as I want to play the game and stream but its impossible.

Is there any work arounds yet?

You want high GPU usage, that means the GPU is doing the work as it should. Asus Aura has been known to cause problem and it's best to disable the variable in the config.cfg to avoid any potential problems occuring.

In your config.cfg look for the following line:

uset cf_asus_aura "0" and make sure it's set like this. It will be on 1 by default.

What's actually happening when you try to play? Is it rubberbanding, freezing etc? Can you upload a game.log please as it will give more insight into the problem.

So everything in the background freezes or stutters massively and its the only the game that causes issues. Ill get a game log file and upload it in a minute

Ok thanks, Are you monitoring the GPU usage by MSI Afterburner per chance? I know that can show CPU usage and RAM as well.

I am just using GPU tweek III and Task Manager so can see that CPU and RAM are not being used anywhere near to the max

Few things I can suggest as nothing really jumps out as problematic:

Set the buffer_page_size to 30 in config.cfg.

https://roextended.ro/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1000

Scroll past a majority of that page until you reach "Steam Launch Options" and configure that piece of text in the code box for 64GB RAM.

That should help alleviate the stutters etc.

You actually do not want high GPU usage. However, you do not not low GPU usage while having high CPU usage, as it probably means the game is trying to use your integrated graphics instead of your dedicated card.
A game like ATS or ETS2 should NEVER max out a 30-series card. Same with an i9.
If the game is maxing out both of these, either there an issue with your system (which I personally think is most likely if you are running Windows 10, as I have high CPU usage quite often despite nothing significant running, probably because Windows 10 likes to hog everything it can to run useless unoptimized crap in the background) or the game is just built poorly and has no method of monitoring or limiting what it uses, or any way to utilize existing processing to handle more (called optimization).

I'd you have a low end card and/or processor, then yes, you'd want it to have high usage as it shows it is trying to be used. However, a 30- series GPU or an i9 should never hit this point with a single game, other than maybe those released in a few generations from now (when this hardware becomes moderate).
