Breaks overheat

#1 Post by Sgr-A » 17 May 2022 03:15

I hope to see this feature in game one day. Use too much those brakes and they will over heat, you'll burn them and your truck won't slow down or stop anymore. We should teach people a lesson: this is a trucking game, not a racing game   Joking aside it's an important aspect of real life trucks so hope to see it in your sims. Thanks.

Would be a great optional feature for those who want it!

# maximum brake temperature
max_brake_temperature: 200.0
# how much brakes cool down
brake_cooling_rate: 0.01
# how much brakes warm up
brake_friction_warming_rate: 4.0

It’s already in game. You can mod it if you want a more visible effect.
I have approximate knowledge of many things

There was an owner-driver a ways out west of where I live, who'd come down a well-known brake-warming kind of hill and did run off the road when it flattened out because of brake fade. He came to a stop, luckily unharmed, in a grass field. But that grass was tinder dry and the excessive heat from the rims and shoes set this grass alight. EVery single wheel. The driver got out safely but the truck burned to the ground, scorching half the field with it.
Not sure if I want that much realism in a sim ;)
If you suck at playing the trumpet, that's probably why.
