It’s both funny and sad that development and addition of new features is so slow that people regularly come on here to ask ”is x new? Havent seen x before” and in 95% of the cases its not something new, just something regular to the gameplay that the user has not seen thats been in the game for years, because they didnt play for a while. I remember that user asking about certain ai traffic models being ”new” and it turned out they had been in the game since like 1.37. This is how little is happening, that people are scraping the bottom of the barrell picking up things that aren’t really new at all. Same with the user in another thread asking if the vegetation and landscapes have been completely reworked because he didn’t notice how they looked before. No, they haven’t been reworked recently and there hasn’t been any vegetation overhaul. There is just so little happening that people start imagining things lol.

Yeah, everyone is clamoring for new stuff because what we have currently isn't sufficient. Which says something very powerful to me.

Right now, SCS has more roads and more land recreated at ground level than any other truck sim in history, and probably any sim at all.

So the fact that all people can think of is more roads, more buildings, more this, more that means in a way little of what has been done up to this point has meant much. And it also means that the future of SCS, if it succeeds long into the future, is an endless cycle of creating new things that users enjoy for a short period of time, then move on to the next thing.

It's like a big bird with a medium sized worm in a small nest with small chicks. As soon as the worm is divided and given out to the chicks, the big bird has to go fly and find another worm, and as soon as that worm is brought, the baby birds are grasping for more.

SCS's game development strategy is one where users are dependent on the developer to find new enjoyment, rather than being able to create their own enjoyment themselves. We have pretty much no ability to do anything to the game in-game other than performing a number of fairly simple visual changes on a vehicle or trailer. We cannot terraform the land, put animated machines in motion, rearrange our cargo, separate our trailers, place or remove buildings, create new businesses or buy up old ones. And we can't create logos for our trucks, order signs, or interact with customers or employees. Where there should be a thick stew, we have a thin gruel.

Is there any other community around that spends this much time online discussing what should be rather than experiencing what is?

After the 1.44 update, will Texas be released or not?

Count around half a year for a Texas release +- some months. Or worst case, early next year.

Yep, and a few months after Texas drops, hype will move to Oklahoma and maybe Louisiana. In reality, Texas should be interesting enough as a state, even at scale, to hold a player's interest for a long time. In some games, Texas could be the whole map. Here, it'll be "that's nice, what's next?"

@Shiva best case Texas early next year, you mean. I don’t want to see a half baked Texas in 2022 with Pacific Northwest vegetation all over the place. It needs to be unique, and they need to work it better than the blogs are showing.

Texas was not highlighted during open beta so no. Montana is likely to come first anyways.

Texas and Montana, they are close to release when their road connections from current areas are done.
Currently, that is not the case.
Some map sectors have quite advanced, but not ready. While others are still totally missing.

I thought Texas would be the first out or along with Montana at the end of the year. It turns out that Texas is coming out next year, it's very sad.
