Parts of the historic route 66 in the game

#1 Post by Savrawars » 01 Jul 2022 22:57

Basically, the title says everything.
My main question is, how many parts of route 66 exist in the game? ---- (Except the one outside kingman Arizona and the one near Albuquerque New Mexico).

Most of the famous US-66 has been converted into Interstate highways in the real world, namely I-40, I-44, and I-55. Much of I-40 in ATS is technically a concurrent route with US-66.

Some of the surface roads in Kingman, Ash Fork, Flagstaff, Holbrook, Lupton (the tourist trap area just west of Gallup) Gallup, Santa Rosa, and Tucumcari also follow the 66. If you want to follow the route in the game, start in Santa Monica, go east on I-10 to Ontario, take I-15 up to Barstow, then hook up with I-40, and, like supersobes said, follow that east, eventually one day to I-44, and from that to I-55, all the way to Chicago.

Hopefully when southern CA is reworked we'll get the 66 between Ludlow and Fenner, as well as along Main Street in Barstow. Texas should also bring some segments and landmarks (Route 66 is one of the blog post topics on the microsite).

Furthermore, I consider that I-80 across Nevada must be redone next.

US Route 66, it will have a drivable part on the New Mexico and Texas border. South of I-40.
Atleast it does look like that, right now, in the 1.45 Beta.

Really, at Glenrio? That's interesting, since that would suggest the highway to the west would also be drivable, and that's a rough, unpaved road with an old, narrow bridge.

Something I hope to see in Texas is Adrian, since that's the midpoint of Route 66. I don't think there's enough there for the highway itself to be drivable, just as long as the town appears.

The narrow bridge? I think it very well might be driveable, unless SCS changes it and that I looked wrong.
Yeah, looks driveable.
Adrain? We'll have to see, if it gets space or not.
If we do not get Amarillo's ring road, then maybe?
On the previous screenshots, the ring road did not seem it.

@rbsanford @Shiva
It's marked as a secret road in the map editor:

Adrian would be nice, although I don't think TX-214 will make it due to US-385. Both junctions do appear in C2C, but SCS has a lot more detail, and would normally leave such streets out despite it yellow on Google Maps. Historic 66 also shares BUS40 through Amarillo, which will certainly make it as in the screenshots.

I've just noticed AZ-66 in game lol. Been on that road tho.

On the google map I see US66 running parallel to US40, and here I see a large deviation of the route to the south.
