My apologies to begin with because there are probably answers to this question in this forum and other places, but i'm getting lost in all the info i'm reading, or watching.
But I also keep getting tobj errors when doing modeling and going back and forth, making changes that also don't work and it's getting frustrating
So a simple question i hope someone kind is willing to answer so at least i know i'm using the right one
Do I need the tobj from the converted (exp) folder (converterpix), or the one from the extracted (scs extractor) folder?
Or maybe another one
If you're wondering what the issues are, with one i get the "it's probably in binary ..." and the other the info in the tobj doesn't match the file it's looking for, or something along those line, the latter i can probably fix, but i can only do that when i know which one should be the right one, and with the too many changes i've made i've lost track of what is what so i need to get back to basics.
The funny thing is that i had some success in making some parts chrome for the Daf XG, but that was by pure luck and i don't remember how i did that
But it did finally push me to take it a step up which without knowing the above may just die out soon again.
Thanks for reading, sorry for the longish post for a simple question.

Re: Which tobj do i need?
The tobj's generated by Blender are the ones you use while modeling. After you've added an image texture, click the icon below to generate one. The file will end up in the same location as the image.

If you're unsure whether a tobj is converted or not, you can open it with a text editor. A file readable by Blender will look something like this
and a converted one that is readable by the game will look like

Code: Select all
map 2d yourtexture
addr clamp_to_edge clamp_to_edge

±p . /path/yourtexture.dds

@Outlaw Transport
Thank you sooo much, this looks a lot like how I did it with the Daf XG, but that was by pure luck
Just got home from work so haven't had time to see if that was really my issue, but I trust it is
The other thing i did wrong was using the SCS dds files for reflection, though at one point i converted them with PS to TGA, but now I understand why that didn't help and because of that probably mixed things and went from one wrong combination to the other.
A huge thank you and have a great weekend.

Re: Which tobj do i need?
I can't thank you enough, it friggin well works
The tank in the image below is nothing special, but just me trying to get better step by step,...there are many tutorials online, but I'm soo happy to get this hurdle passed thanks to you, not getting the materials to work is what kept me from going beyond paint jobs.
Have a lot to learn still, but thanks to you it's going in the right direction.

Genuinely wish to buy you a beer, or beverage of your choice.

Re: Which tobj do i need?
Ha, I'm happy to help! I'm well versed in getting stuck with a Blender issue and not finding the answer anywhere. The documentation never really includes anything you actually need and anything on google is a hit from this forum dated 2016 with an answer that no longer applies
