I honestly can't say for sure yet, we haven't been driving that much the last few days, but the time we have been driving has actually been pretty crash free. Only extremely rarely a crash.

Unfortunately my fears about thunder sounds never playing were confirmed true, today I finally got some lightning, but its completely silent ingame. Removing the mod restores thunder sounds. The console/log shows this only:

Code: Select all

[fs] cached read - buffer update failed (<C:/Users/Redacted/Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod/Realistic Brutal Graphics And Weather V8.0 By Kass.zip | >/sound/world/kassthunder.bank)
Seeking in zlib compressed files is not allowed
Any ideas on the cause? I "tested" the mod archive in WinRAR and it found no errors, and I have plenty of free space, and running the game off an SSD in good health.

Could it be my launch options? I have this set:

Code: Select all

-64bit -nointro -mm_pool_size 8192 -mm_max_resource_size 50 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000 -unlimitedlog
and the game almost maxes out my RAM (total 16GB, 90%), using 8GB, with Chrome shut / other background apps using insignificant RAM. Maybe it's failing to load it in because of that? But how would I even solve this if I'm already letting the game "use" my RAM? Also the .bank files are total about 15MB, and extracted about 110MB, so shouldn't be that bad?

Unfortunately upgrading my RAM is not an option. I guess I will try using something like 6GB (-mm_pool_size 6144) to give overall RAM more "headroom" and report back.

Unfortunately I can't reproduce lightning ingame after making this change even with viewtopic.php?p=1729595#p1729595. Will have to report back later.

@sjain That sound error means you unpack the mod and pack it back wrongly, RBGW is working fine and i suggest you not to mess with things when you do not have clue in what you are doing. In fact RBGW works fine even with the min ETS2 specs including the Memory.

@dummytrucker either is mod conflict or a map mod u using.

This is 1 of your pics (second):

this is the same place like the pic above when i checked it:

Like i said probably mod conflict and not because RBGW

@Kass Thanks for your reply.

I set up a new profile using only RBGW, then started a new job from Budapest, the road signs still disappear.

Hi Kass & everyone,

I made an account solely in order to thank you for your work, this mod is amazing, super immersive, and I cannot imagine playing without it anymore. Thank you so much!

I've just recently started using ProMods and your mod is compatible as far as I know (right?).
I've got a related question; now - I was driving through Iceland and night hours came when the sun nearly set but not entirely, at first I thought I was a bug, and then I remembered I'm an idiot because Iceland is so far north that sun doesn't set completely in the summer lol.
So the question is - did you intentionally make your mod work in such a synergy with Promods? So much so that even sun (or rather Earth) movements are reflected while being this far up north?
Because I can't find any other explanaition :D. I also thought this might be the doing of "actual daytime" mod that synchronises sunsets/sunrises with the actual time of the year but disabling it didn't change anything, only disabling your mod made Iceland pitch dark. I also thought it was ProMods authors who implemented this system but again - disabling your mod made night in Iceland dark so that's out of the equation.

So that's just my curiosity. Once again - thank you so much for making the game so much more pleasant to play for me and the others.
All the best.

Here's a screenshot of Iceland as a bonus and free advertising if anyone's still on the egde about downloading this mod - do it now (honestly it was so difficult picking one as I took like a hundred)!
