While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.

Polar day / jour polaire

#1 Post by detourist » 22 Sep 2022 22:18

Hey there,

we dug up the Jour Polaire mod by Lumpy, who seems to have used a Piva mod to get the idea.

It basically pushes the map up north on the globe so that we get polar day. It's all done in def/climate.sii.

Now, I wonder about the actual values used. I understand the longitude part. But also the standard paralels for the map projection are changed, as well as map factor.

Why touch the projection and factor? Would the map otherwise be distorted because it got moved?

To follow up: I learned a thing about map projection. Looks like map projection and scale need to be adapted to have the in-game map show correctly.
