There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.

@Skoot Agree. Especially if they have the option for proper trailer axle/tag axle hubs as well as drives and steers. Not that I won't be happy to get anything of the quality Smarty offers, but you know... trailer daytons please. Man, if he gets his 10 hole Alcoa lock ring wheels and some daytons, with the nice older 5 hole Alcoas and his 5 hole steelies along with all the modern wheels, that's gonna be quite the comprehensive wheel pack. Any truck from most any era will be able to be equipped with suitable wheels. Still hope to see some ball seat lugs make it into the pack but it'll be what it'll be.
Oh yeah, the Paystar and Pacific are nice, too. Good stuff.
Those wheels though...

yea that would be pretty good.
Your average American Truck Simulator gamer.
Re: [WIP] Pacific P-500F
i got something more specialized on my wishlist. like 6-lug wheels for a PNW truck setup, Webb 3-spoke hubs, centerpoint steering hubs and the like.xTHANATOPSISx wrote: ↑08 Dec 2022 02:00 Skoot Agree. @Skoot I wouldn't mind seeing 8 hole/8 lug 22.5/24.5 wheels for that 10k steer/34k tandem action. Don't see them any more really but used to see trucks spec'd to be light with those minimum rated axles a lot in the 80s and 90s fairly often.
Re: [WIP] Pacific P-500F
@xTHANATOPSISx yea, seen many a photo of those. always wondered why 8-lug wheels and why we don't see them today.
now i wonder whether a 2k lb drop in gross combination weight was worth it.

Re: [WIP] Pacific P-500F
@Skoot I'm guessing it saved just a little weight per assembly because the springs and individual components were lighter so you probably get half the loss back at most. But the other side is that there were a lot of places that were still not 80k (and a good few today even) in the mid/late 80s and so trucks were still being spec'd the same way they had been even if there wasn't a lot of savings in weight since it was probably cheaper and it meant you keep using common parts so your fleet service inventory was smaller/the same.
I dunno. I always thought it was an odd choice. I guess it also worked for fleets that would cube out before they grossed out. If you can't ever get more than 70k gross, no need to spend more on a truck that can haul 80k gross. Even today most trucks aren't hauling 80k constantly. Last I saw I think the average gross weight for linehaul general freight carriers was like 68k.
There's a farmer down the road from where I live that has a old FLD 120 with a flat top and light axles. Not that relevant just wanted to mention it.
