Re: Bumpy Roads
Yeah, and that alone would make such a huge difference in gameplay.
Re: Bumpy Roads
could not be more agree with this, at this point its almost impossible to find and real life road smooth like silk; honestly its boring playing like this...

Re: Bumpy Roads
Doesn't make for an interesting drive, that's for sure. And with years of flat land releases ahead, the scenery won't help much either for quite a bit.
Re: Bumpy Roads
The flat lands will also emphasize the glass road effect. It will truly suck and I believe Texas is already starting to show that as it's more flat than the western states. At least when the road is hilly and twisty, there's something to pay attention to, even if the road surface is artificially smooth. But driving on a flat straight highway made of glass will be ultra-boring.seriousmods wrote: ↑08 Dec 2022 16:23Doesn't make for an interesting drive, that's for sure. Re: Bumpy Roads
Yeah, in the West, the biggest issue has been the curving/banking of the roads. It's insufficient and forces the player to turn the wheel way more than should be needed.Unster wrote: ↑08 Dec 2022 19:47 The flat lands will also emphasize the glass road effect. With straighter roads, we're going to notice a lack of micro elevation changes (ditches, road crowning, unlevel intersections, etc) along with a complete lack of bumps from sea to shining sea.
Re: Bumpy Roads
I probably did already but just in case I'll drop a plug for this mod that randomly adds bumps to the road (as well as other random events): viewtopic.php?t=293448
The game engine handles it fine (though not perfectly). SCS just don't seem to want to do it

Re: Bumpy Roads
That's not really what we're talking about here though, except the asphalt patches that the mod seems to add. Mostly it looks like it adds accidents. But for the bumpy roads, it should be more than just asphalt patches here and there. Even a well made asphalt surface will never be perfectly flat like we talked about. I think this is a change that will have to come from the devs, not modders.Grizzly wrote: ↑09 Dec 2022 03:26 I probably did already but just in case I'll drop a plug for this mod that randomly adds bumps to the road (as well as other random events): viewtopic.php?t=293448

Re: Bumpy Roads
Yeah, it adds a variety of new random road event types, asphalt patches being one of them. It's the rumble/vibration of asphalt/concrete/bridge decks, etc that this mod cannot add. I'm not sure how it would be done by a modder without 3d road surfaces, and that would destroy the framerate.
Re: Bumpy Roads
yes, i used before in ets2 and worked just fine, it adds a little spice to this boring driving "simulator"...Grizzly wrote: ↑09 Dec 2022 03:26 I probably did already but just in case I'll drop a plug for this mod that randomly adds bumps to the road (as well as other random events): viewtopic.php?t=293448
