1.37 came Feb 26th 2020. 1.40 came Feb 3rd 2021. We don't have to go as far as April nor May. 1.47 doesn't have to be a map expansion either.

Technically speaking we don't even need 1.47 for new content depending on the type of content. A paintjob pack, for example, could easily be released for 1.46 while work on 1.47 goes on.

Nope, we don't need 1.47 for something easy like a truck or paint pack. Those can be patched in. But for something more involved like DX12, overhauled AI, new feature(s).....a new revision number is almost a must. If Switzerland and California phase 3 are 1.47 bound, they will contain too much new stuff for a patch.

To be fair, 1.30 was an odd case where half of the update had to be split off into 1.29 for ATS. It wasn't exactly a full update on its own as much as "finishing" 1.29, which ETS2 skipped.

I'd like to see Cali phase 3 and the northern Texas expansion with 1.47. Along with at least one BIG gameplay implementation or improvement.
What good is a world without good detail?

^Lol. I forgot about Texas 2.0 already. Getting that along side Ph3 would be sweet actually. One big gameplay feature would be nice but I'm not sure that happens without the engine update. Not to many cheers will come about until the engine gets that update. Most people will keep singing, who asked for this or no body wants this.

It's pretty obvious that what we'll get in 1.47 is city intros for more cities, maybe a reworked trailer that will be useless for WoTR drivers, some minor changes to something no one cares about and that is it. If something "big" is coming, which is something we've been hearing for the last 3 or so years, it obviously won't come as the first update of 2023 and probably not even in 2023 ;)

On the bright side, we'll probably get a lot of new WoTR paintjobs and Paintjob DLC's this year and we all know how big and important those are, right!?
