Getting different colors from interior accessories

So I'm aware on how to utilize the dashboard_color.sui, however is there a way to apply the same effect to things that aren't included in the interior.pmd? I'm working on making different buyable radios on my corporation truck, and the radio in question has number that are illuminated green when on, and white when off. When including the radio model in the interior, I'm able to do this, but not when it's a buyable accessory. Any way around this? Aside from making the numbers on the radio green when off via the texture.
