Your average fuel economy in ATS.
Re: Your average fuel economy in ATS.
@McFly
"low rpm". dont cross 1400 rpm. if you are using default SCS gearboxes then always use minimum diff. ratio ones which usually 18speed EF(iirc 3.00 diff. ratio). dont use first gears when start, except necessary situations(loaded uphill start). if you usually transport normal loads(10k-35k lbs), go with smaller engines.

Re: Your average fuel economy in ATS.
like i mentioned before, i was going to try something similar to @supersobes
i just took a few loads with my new Western Star 5700XE
the Trucks setup: Detroit Integrated Drivetrain with a DD13 with 400hp, the DT-12-DA, a 6x4 chassis and a 200 gallon tank

[ external image ]
gross weigt was just below 70.000lb and the Truck also didn´t feel slow, just mentioning it because i´m normally used to Trucks with 500hp - 600hp and a fuel economy of just 5.3mpg - 5.5mpg
this Truck feels amazing and fun to drive... but still i think i´m going to try the same drivetrain on a Cascadia soon.

Re: Your average fuel economy in ATS.
I decided to check out how the different gearboxes affects fuel efficiency on my favorite Mack Anthem.
Route Brownsville - Great Falls (2080 miles), cargo 44702 lb of flour in a dry van.
Truck: Mack Anthem with MP8 505C engine, 6x4.
I drove the same route with 4 different gearboxes, the traffic is turned off so that the conditions are the same, the cruising speed 60 - 65 mph.
mDRIVE AT2612F (12 sp, ratios 14.94 - 1.0, Diff 2.79) - 305,7 gallons used.
mDRIVE ATO2612F (12 sp, ratios 11.73 - 0.78, Diff 3.25) - 305,6 gallons used.
Eaton UltraShift (18 sp, ratios 14.40 - 0.73, Diff 3.25) - 305,6 gallons used.
Allison 4700 (7 sp, 7.63 - 0.64, Diff 3.55) - 305,4 gallons used.
To be honest, the results surprised me. The difference is mainly within the margin of error, only the Allison automatic transmission stands out for some noticeable economy over 2000 miles. And this gearbox also made it possible to finish the route half an hour faster than all other gearboxes. It looks like the truck accelerates to cruising speed faster with it, at least with small and medium-weight loads.

"Realistic Fuel Consumption" on in your settings? it looks like your Eco Drive skill at work.

Allison transmissions are really good and are probably the most underrated parts in the game because the analysis widget gives them extremely poor stats. Basically... ignore that entirely because it's really inaccurate.ovcl wrote: ↑16 Feb 2023 12:25 To be honest, the results surprised me. I have a 4500 RDS on my T680 and it out-performs both (mod added) PACCAR and (vanilla) Eaton-Fuller transmissions both in hill performance and in fuel consumption. They're also true automatics, like cars have; they shift gears much faster and cleaner than the automated manuals that dominate trucking, and they allow trucks to accelerate much faster.
I have yet to try it on my Mack, however.

Re: Your average fuel economy in ATS.
in the meanwhile i drove over 5.000 Miles with the Western Star 5700XE, still the same setup and it still sits at 7.3 mpg. "realistic fuel cosumption" is always on.
@cydonianmystery i always wondered how the Allison´s perform compared to the 13 and 18-speed Eaton´s and now also the DT-12 from Detroit, but with the latter one i had the best fuel consumption by far.
...and on the Mack i have, i´m using a 13-speed Eaton Fuller, but i guess the mDrive ist the best option for a Mack, still?

Indeed, even though they technically use fake torque converters (the underlying code is from the in-game clutch), they truly excel wherever rapid acceleration is desired. They have no acceleration gap during shifting and they should be great e.g. in 1:1 city maps with lots of stop-and-go. My favorite is the TC10 which is out of production in real life unfortunately. Re: Your average fuel economy in ATS.
my most used transmission (by far) is the Eaton Ultrashift 13-speed, since i liked it´s performance most, but now the Detroit DT-12 DA is growing on me.
the TC10 also sound good to me but unluckily it wasn´t available to the Mack Anthem and Volvo VNL so i tested it a while back on a Peterbilt 579, it was great the only thing i was missing was a retarder, but you get used to it. for the past 6.000 Miles the Detroit DT-12 DA was my gearbox, together with the Detroit Integrated Powertrain DD13 400hp and a 6x4 chassis. i just changed the cab right before i took the 2 pictures down below and the paintjob.
normally i only take loads that go farther than 621 Miles (1.000Km) and do not weight much more than 40.000lb - but for the last 13 deliveries it was everything between 150 and 1.900 Miles and a gross weight of around 70.000lb

i guess this is pretty good already, at least it is by far the best mpg i ever had, with any truck in ATS.

Re: Your average fuel economy in ATS.
Even with the 600 HP DD16 the 5700 will still get better fuel mileage than any truck in game. I also use Smarty's tire mod and running 11R24.5 puts my rpms close to 1100 rpm at 65 vs 1200 with SCS tires. That helped my fuel mileage a lot too.

Re: Your average fuel economy in ATS.
this sounds good to me, i haven´t tested other combos much so far, i´m still wondering how a DD15 505 would perform and the integrated Detroit Powertrain with the DD15, instead of the DD13...
tires on my Truck are from Goodyear, Goddyear LHS on the front tires and Goddyear Fuelmax on both rear axles, both are from the tires pack DLC.
my rpms where around 1.200 rpm at 65 mph and around 1.000 rpm at 55 mph in the 12th gear, depending in which state i am. btw. i never did get faster than 65 mph except at some downhills within those miles shown above in the pictures.
