The main "problem" with trucks in ATS at the start was that for SCS, ATS was just an experiment to see how the players would receive their return to America after they weren't allowed to make anything in America for quite some time, they never expected it to be so popular and not many resources were provided at the start, and one of the main reasons why ATS happened at all was because PACCAR gave (or sold, idk) them the licenses for 4 of the most famous American trucks on the road and it's safe to assume there was a licensing "lockdown" for a few years to only have those 4 PACCAR (the good ol' K and P duopoly) trucks and SCS agreed to it because it was the only way to have licensed trucks since the start of the project, so, there was no option to "try a little harder", ATS was just an experiment and if it backfired they had plans to turn the ETS2 map into a Bus/Coach Sim.

Yesss that is still my whole thought too. I think Paccar had a lockout. SCS finally got others and it's like Paccar dropped out until now. We see SCS posting Paccar pics again. 2 years after the old VNL got added we finally get the other brands going for ATS. So lockout indeed for me. Heck we just got news on the new VNL coming finally. We only got the old one which was odd.

It's been a tough road truck wise but the maps are pretty solid at least. They just need to build up the economy with ICC'S to make it great. It's the entire purpose of the game. All the features that can come over the years just adds to the gameplay.

if i could choose only one truck in this section, i would choose the freightliner classic xl no question.

for me it all started back when i was a child and i could drive the "brava" back in 18 WoS...

those where great times and i miss it

but i have many more trucks i´d love to see, but that´s the one i would want to see the most.

It made me happy to see the completed Western Star 5700 on the 2022 Christmas Live. I hope to see this truck on the 2023 Christmas Live:

Hopefully in the future America Truck Simulator will add these trucks: Freightliner 122SD/Century/Columbia/FLD/Cascadia/Coronado, Kenworth T800/T880/W990, Volvo VNL860/VNX740, International HX520/ ProStar, and MACK Pinnacle, MACK Titan.

With the 5700 out now. I'd like to see the 4900 next. The pipe dream for me would be a Mack R700, but not expecting that truck to ever make it despite it being a synonymous truck.

Fortunately SCS introduced the 9900i and the 5700XE, two out of production trucks. So this thread isn't useless at all. When I look at all the options offered in the poll, I could easily say: "ALL!"

But with "only" 5 options available, I voted for those trucks I used as mods in the past (Argosy, Ultraliner, Mack R and K100) plus the old Cascadia. This is the one I hope the most for.

If I were given the choice of Freightliner Classic or the old Cascadia, I would not hesitate to answer that the first!

List is longer than the poll I guess. Can we add this bad boy on Volvo section? [ external image ]

That's an odd way of including images, but i do agree that Volvo actually do have quite a handful in the fleet, even in the in-production variant alone we already have the VHD (tractor variant) that can be included, what more to the out-of-production ones.

The problem with the 9900i and the 5700XE is that SCS got the licenses for those trucks BEFORE they went out of production, so far SCS has not gone for an actual out of production truck license like the trucks in this thread, that might change in the future but for now it's all speculation.
