Using promods
HI,
After watching a you tube video i just wanted to ask if you can have one profile unmodded and another set up with promods.
I've been playing the game for a long time now and don't like messing with things as i usually mess it up spectaculary. my only profile is at level 134 so if i have another profile with promods i'm worried i could lose it.
Can anyone offer any advice or if it's ok to have an unmodded and modded profile set up.
Thanks for any help,
cheers,
Rodders.

Re: Using promods
As far as I know, mod settings for each profile are separate. I have one modded and one clean and both work.
But, just in case, I'd back up the old profile even if you're not going to touch it with mods.

Re: Using promods
You can have as many profiles as you want with or without mods and they wouldn't interfere with each other in any way.

Thanks both for the help. i know the premium download doesn't cost much but do you have to buy the download each time the game releases an update ie from 1.47 to 1.48. or does it update automatically,

Re: Using promods
You need to buy it every update - 1.47 to 1.48 as its a new version of promods as well.
Re: Using promods
The ProMods are always free. If you take advantage of the Premium Download for 1 euro, you are not paying to buy the ProMods but for an easier and faster download. (-;
Re: Using promods
In Steam, there is the option to force the game to stay in a certain version, so you can keep Promods working with the version you dowloaded for as long as you want. However, that means that you won't get the newest updates from SCS, so a balance is to be made there. I usually stay for some time in the old versions to avoid the inconvenience of having to download Promods every now and then.

Re: Using promods
Not quite. You can't use old branches indefinitely because SCS delete the least used old branch when a new game version goes into open beta. So sooner or later the branch maybe deleted, it's useful if you're just waiting on all your mods to get updates or whatever as a short term thing.

Re: Using promods
That is true @Mohegan13, but I just checked and I can select down to 1.35, which was released in June 2019. While it's not "as long as you want" as I said, I think four years is pretty much enough

Re: Using promods
1.35 is a special case because it is the last DX9 version, so this one might stay a bit longer then 1.31 or 1.36/37
