Yeah, if any truck needs to have fuel tanks separated from the chassis the most - it's this one
Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
I think it's going to be more than just a hood. We'll know for certain come stream.
In a world full of swift drivers, I'm an O/O.

Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
would be nice if all fuel tanks on every truck ingame would be seperated, not only on the Western Star´s... but i guess this might be coming when the next Trucks will be fully reworked, since i don´t think that the W900 will be the only one.
we´ll see, it just takes it´s time.
i´m still gonna watch the next Stream.

I don't think the game can support tank size independent of the frame. So if they were separate, as they should be, the amount held would still be determined the same way.Stealth Daemon wrote: ↑03 Jun 2023 23:31 would be nice if all fuel tanks on every truck ingame would be seperated, not only on the Western Star´s... but i guess this might be coming when the next Trucks will be fully reworked, since i don´t think that the W900 will be the only one.

ARE you kidding me?!?!?! C'mon man..... SCS has been separating the tanks from the frame on every new truck since the International LT and you can determine the fuel capacity on the tank definition files, for someone that complains so much about the game, you don't really pay attention to the new features!

As I mentioned before, you can check the Power Hood option specifications for the 49X in the Western Star Trucks AU.
The Power Hood option seems to be the default in the Oceania market. (Maybe it's because of the hot weather.)

I wonder if we can get the option of Meritor P600 tandem / tridem planetary drive axle as well.
Finally, I would like you to modify the existing ridiculously long chassis frame.

Hmm, so why is the 49x so weird? It came after the LT, right?JoeAlex23 wrote: ↑04 Jun 2023 02:30 ARE you kidding me?!?!?! C'mon man..... And for the record, I have never claimed to be an expert on SCS modding. I have played around with the files a bit, but there is plenty I would happily say I don't know.
Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
No, the 49X was in September of 2020, the LT was a year later and they added the option to completely separate the fuel tank capacity from the frame of the truck, since then it has been the standard for every new truck, also in ETS2 for the new DAF and the new MAN.
Why haven't they done it to every other truck? Who knows, at first we assume it was to avoid breaking profiles, but the W900 rework proved it's possible without breaking anything, i assume they will get to it eventually, but adding the Power Hood to the 49X is the perfect time to update the fuel tanks and reduce the 36 chassis configurations.

Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
right, that is what i also meant... if there was any confusion in what i wrote. i have to add that the 49X was only avaiable as Daycab in the beginning and also only as the SFA variant
@vmfrlt this one looks great, i´m more a fan of the SBA variant but still.
edit: if i´m not mistaken, the Power Hood seems to be an option for the SFA variant only, just checked it out and on the webpage it says: "The Power Hood is available with the Detroit DD16, up to 600 hp/2050 lb.-ft., torque; or the Cummins X15 up to 605 hp/2050 lb.-ft., torque; engines and the 49X’s 1600-sq.-in., radiator."

Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
@vmfrlt Those photos provide excellent views of how the 49X looks like with the power hood. I do agree that they should shorten the frame. The wheelbase lengths were the reason I stuck with the SBA 6x4 long frame, and avoided 8x4 and 8x6 configurations in the game. I also wish they would reposition the fifth wheel, specifically more towards the front. Or provide a selection of fifth wheel positions, similar to how we can select axle positions for some of the trailers.
