Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
If we got CA-132 @ I-5, then we would also need CA-132 @ I-580, otherwise we would not be able to get from Oakland to Modesto via CA-132.
Right now the partly-fictional road that connects Oakland and Oakdale directly is CA-120 east of I-5. I bet they just use CA-120 again along with I-205 to connect Oakland with CA-99. Then the fictional western half of that road can just disappear because it won't be needed anymore. So that frees up space for Oakland in comparison to the base map.
Whatever happens I just hope we get more density and ag depots in the Central Valley. Without that California will feel like a husk of itself.

Good point. Yeah CA-120 is the most realistic option that saves the most space vs CA-132.
I totally agree with the density and ag industry. SCS now has a proper research team and over all a tad wiser on the economy in North America. I just hope SCS corrects the lack of knowledge during these rebuilds. The early paid dlc will only get touch ups so correct the base map at least. No need to revamp early dlc'slike Going East in ETS2 will need. There is a lot going on in California and Arizona to update. Lots of economy has come since 2016 and the base map is good for it.

Modesto, CA-99 and I-5?
CA-132, would be my guess. Maze Blvd and L St in Modesto.
Or alternative between CA-99 and I-5, CA-120.
CA-4? possibly not in, due to the space needed elsewhere.

If we get Tracy or 5he 205-580-5 then wouldn’t the 120 makes sense as when your going east on the 205 you merge to the 5 and then can get on the 120 East. It is in a way an extension. Plus a good connection for the 99-5 and for 99 Northbound to connect to San Francisco by he 120-5-205-580.
The Northern California part lacks a little density, and I’m hoping we get it more south of Sacramento, it should be like Washington but even more dense.
Still wondering how far south this next phase is going. Hoping for Fresno, but we will see. The 180-41 freeways would be nice,

It's still quiet. They'll say something once they feel like it's the right time.

Carson City's progress? You mean proper rework? Some talks on the forums in the past. Mostly related to how to connect US-50. Wishes and ideas. But other than that, all things taken together, one must strongly assume that nothing worth mentioning outside of California will be touched until California is done. As it currently stands. Assuming otherwise as long as there is not even at least a tiny sign to indicate it makes no sense.

Quark, it would be a good time for SCS to redo Carson City. But are they doing it now?
Let's hope for the best

Well, if they add the 50 east of Sacramento, they'll need to tie it into Carson City somehow, right?
And as it currently stands, there are just as many signs to support that phase 4 will be about California as there are signs that it will be about Nevada—namely no signs at all. So assumptions about one or the other make no sense, either way.
That said, I really do hope that the I-80 corridor in Nevada will follow phase 3 asap. Without it, reworked California is a real pain to get to.

Yeppppppp. If phase 1 Nevada does’t kick in after phase 3 California, all the work in California
isn’t on most people’s travel plans when it’s so isolated from the East. Nevada is holding us back. Considering SCS never said they will finish California before anything else, Ph 1 Neveda should be highly considered. SCS only said they was starting in Northern California only California completed first.
They can easily go to phase 4,5,6 California once a phase 1 Nevada is done. I-80 is becoming more and more necessary. Especially if the focus is Route 66.
