Very possible that DX12 and Vulkan will come along with Multicore support. Why it will be a benefit to have Multicore with DX12 and Vulkan.

Yeah it seems that both go hand in hand to me. Makes sense on what we have now is just the first layer of the foundation. It's the utilities under the foundation. Once multi core and the newer api's are added, that's the solid foundation in which features are built on.

Vulkan and DX12 help (A LOT) to create multi-core GRAPHIC engines. I mean, the GRAPHIC part of the game engine to run efficiently in multiple cores at the same time, distributing tasks, for a higher performance.

But the game engine in 1.50 doesn't seem to be moving anything new to multi-core despite having already the API there. So it seems they are NOT taking this route.

And it has sense, because the games that use to require so much power in the graphic part are the ones with either very frenetic scenes (where very high FPS count) and/or extremely detailed graphics. And SCS games doesn't met none of those conditions.

The most relevant part fort what they need multi-core (at this current moment) is not to distribute graphic workload but everything else: physics, AI vehicles control, environment events control, complex weather management... And the presence or absence of those graphic API should not affect those other parts of the game engine. So, considering the graphics are pretty OK and improving; I guess the aim for multi-core version would be to improve all other aspects of the game before doubling-down only on the graphic part. It could happen they arrive together, but it doesn't seem that would be due a necessity.

But just my guess.

If you're a Linux user, it could actually be better than the OpenGL backend, so it would once again bring a usable native version closer to reality.

But apart from that, I don't really see a benefit currently.

If anyone cares: I tried setting it to vk yesterday on the native Linux build and it doesn't work. Automatically resets to gl once the game is started.
So I guess dx12/vk support only lives in the Windows build, for now at least.

For me Vulkan is working on Linux build. But indeed, it makes no sense to play with it at the moment, because performance seems to be lower than in OpenGL.

Did you actually verify that you're running the Linux build with Vulkan?

I'm pretty sure the game runs in Vulkan. Mangohud shows Vulkan renderer and in my gamelog [vk] entries appear:
