Exactly that's the problem.
And my biggest fear... 😰

Even after all these years since the Oculus DK1/2, VR still is a niche... The majority of high-end gamers still prefer to buy a triple monitor setup for 1000 $ instead of investing in VR for 500-800 $... meanwhile a performant GPU is needed in both cases.
Really a pity 😔

I tend to agree with @KingOfTheRoad77

I only play this game in VR and have no desire to move to flat. I've tried both and find the VR experience way better.

Is there no way we can open up the game to allow the community to develop the VR app? Or allow people to buy a supported VR version/copy of the game?

That's what I said some time ago already:

@SCS, @Komat
I'd really be willing to pay for an official VR DLC in the usual range up to 20€, perhaps even 30€. => The whole hardware setup for VR already did cost so much, and I mainly always do the upgrades 95% for ETS2/ATS only! So, another 20-30€ don't really bother me in that case.
And I guess, I am not the only one in here thinking this way. Perhaps, you could forward this suggestion to the team :)

I really, really like both truck sim's very much. I once tried Mudrunner two years ago and gave it back since it wasn't as much fun as ETS2/ATS without VR (or only emulated via vorpX, but reversing was just so bad....); that's why I won't even have a look at Snowrunner; I had the Alaskan Truck Sim first on my wishlist, but deleted it since it neither supports VR nor my Thrustmaster steering wheel.

And considering ETS2/ATS, I am always looking forward so impatiently to the new map DLC's, buying them almost everytime on release day already.

But as @justin said, I won't be able to go back to flat => It really is such a large difference between sitting IN the truck and having to look around, being able to estimate distances correctly, etc., not talking about the specific 3D/VR effect itself already; having good headphones on my ears and feeling the rumbling in my chair - instead of just sitting BEFORE a monitor - independent from how large it is (mine is 47").

So, really, once again, even if I am repeating myself:
Please please, if that's a possible way to go: Make it an official paid VR DLC so the additional work pays off :)
Must not be a promise to make it a completely new focus project - just a promise to keep it included in the game as long as the game exists :)

Have a nice day everybody :)

Same here, I wouldn't be able to go back to playing on the screen, even on triples (static monitors don't work well with a motion rig).
Somehow I started with ETS2 for a couple of dollars (it was part of a bundle). Since then bought all the map DLC's and ATS likewise. So, to add a couple of tenners for a 'VR DLC' is a no-brainer for me. Would be happy to support it's development in that way.
I wouldn't be kidding if I say the VR rig at this point has cost more than a thousand fold of the base game. I dread the day should VR no longer be supported, albeit in beta, for both games.
System specs: Ryzen 5800X3D, RTX3080 (no OC), Varjo Aero (using OpenXR through OpenComposite instead of SteamVR), 32 GB DDR3200, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB, Win10. And most importantly: vanilla game, no mods.

I wonder, if SCS has data about the amount of people playing in VR. Is it in the tens, hundreds or thousands? Maybe they could do a poll on how many people would be willing to pay extra for VR getting the same amount of attention than the pancake mode does. I would definitely pay an extra 30€ for it.

Heres another VR Player willed to pay for a VR DLC or such ...
Atm playin the 1.50 Beta Version on Flat .. tryin to get used with it with Opentrack an a Cam for lookin around. Jeah, the graphics are much better, but.. as mentioned from others, the Feelin of sitting in the Truck can nothing other simulate in this Game than the VR Mode.

I’d also give 30€ extra for a good implemented VR DLC.

(Without install or deinstall all the time to switch between modes)
