Romo is a mixed bag for me, he brings star power to the booth so that's that, but I don't think he has a voice fit for commentary and he got a lot of scrutiny following the walk off touchdown in the Super Bowl earlier this year when he decided to talk following the play instead of letting the moment soak in.

Greg Olsen was doing really good for his first years next to Kevin Burkhardt, kind of a shame he got booted off the main booth for Brady but Brady is a household name that's going to be there for years to come so it was obvious he'd be put on the main booth, Olsen will continue to do great alongside his new commentary partner, Joe Davis.

When it comes to CBS, they outdo FOX overwhelmingly when it comes to Commentary booths, though I'd argue FOX's overall coverage (camera work, analysis, music choice, score board) outdoes CBS in that regard. I like hearing Andrew Catalon the best, though I think every booth at CBS has great chemistry with one another. FOX just has never had much of a good fit when it comes to commentators and booths, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman were always lapping the others when it came to commentary quality on their network. I will admit I did like Thom Brennaman's voice when he was on FOX but he hasn't worked there since resigning in disgrace in 2020, I also liked Dick Stockton for the time he was there but now he's retired. I'd say I like Adam Amin the best of all the primary commentators at FOX.

Its all subjective honestly. I like Romo. He calls the game as if he's still the quarterback and often, he's right. Greg Olsen and Jason Witten are not good at all. Both of them needed to go. Aikman and Buck are solid. No one compares to Summerall and Madden though. But I'm a big fan of commentary vs going to the game, lol. I want to hear what's going on, stats and everything else. Its fun going to the game but it turns out I do more running my mouth and people watching vs watching the actual game. Plus I save a ton by just chillin' at home and avoiding traffic and covid outbreaks, lol.

Brady will be loved because he's Brady. I expect him to be another Romo though.

Hmmm, just for fun

Ravens @ Chiefs (Opener, Thursday) -> Chiefs
Packers @ Eagles (Brazil, Friday) -> Packers

its gonna be a really really good opener. It could go either way though to be honest. I actually have both QB in 2 different leagues. I don't know who to root for, lol.

I was thinking about drafting Lamar as my primary QB in fantasy but then realized he's not always healthy compared to Mahomes, who seems to never miss a game. That's my reasoning for drafting Mahomes over Jackson.

Herbert will be my backup and I think it's a solid backup QB for fantasy, I'll play him during the bye week of the Chiefs.

I had my draft last night (10 teams, snake draft), and perhaps unsurprisingly, I did fail to avoid the Vikings :lol:
oldmanclippy wrote: 26 Aug 2024 14:19 I always say I'll stay away from Vikings players, both due to wanting to "hedge my fandom", and due to my general Vikings cynicism. But somehow I always end up with at least one.

Justin Jefferson made a strong case last year for being the most QB-proof WR in the league, so hopefully he can continue to showcase that quality because Darnold isn't gonna give him much to work with, lol

My general strategy for DST is to pick up the defense that's playing the Vikings whenever possible, and that generally works out pretty well for me.

Besides JJ, not a ton of excitement on my FF team (although I do think Kyler Murray will be a top 5 fantasy QB this year), but I've had worse drafts that ended up doing well in the season so we'll have to see how it goes.

Not too bad. 2 Cowboys, lol. Well alllll right. You are heavy on the WRs. You didn't pick up an extra QB? I'm hoping Kyler can do something with Marvin Harrison this year. Those 2 must kick it in gear for sure. We share 3 common interest though, lol. I have Mixon, Moor and Aubrey. I had to make sure I at least got 1 Cowboy. Lamb in gone fast and Ferguson is solid but if the other 2-3 ahead of him are available when I target TE's, no Ferg for me. I typically roll with Dallas D too but I didn't this year. So Aubrey was the one must have for me. Had I missed him, I was gonna have to cheat since I'm commissioner in one of my 2 leagues. j/k

That's a cool lineup, It will be interesting to see if Kyler Murray can perform this season.

I got chills down my spine for this NFL season, it will be my 5th full time watching season of the NFL, I used to watch partly in years past but I was more into other sports like NASCAR and Pro Wrestling, now I've fully dedicated my sport love to Football, and will be watching most if not all of the games this year.

I go back and forth on getting 1 QB vs 2 QB in the draft. Some years I stick with 1 like last year with Jalen Hurts and it worked fine, other times I get 2 which sometimes saves me and sometimes ends up being a waste of a pick. All about risk tolerance I suppose. I think if I could redo this draft, I probably would have tried to get a 3rd running back earlier, and also grab someone like Brock Purdy as a backup instead of one of my WRs. But I've had issues in recent years with scrambling for WR/Flex on the waiver wire and wanted to take some shots in the draft to try and avoid that. Trevor Lawrence and Kirk Cousins went undrafted, and only 17 total QBs went drafted among the 10 teams, so there should be decent availability if Kyler goes down or during his bye week. Knock on wood lol. Might be prudent to grab one of those two QBs in Week 2 if it's instantly clear after Week 1 that one of my WRs is a dud.

I'm feeling positive about Ferguson, I think Dak will have to lean on him more with Tony Pollard gone. But we'll see.

I had Aubrey for a good chunk of last season and he was a stud so it was cool that he fell in my lap in the 2nd to last round.

I’ll throw in these “for fun” picks as well. We can make it part of the template from now on, early games included but only for fun:

Ravens @ Chiefs -> Ravens
Packers @ Eagles -> Eagles
