Would you like the speed limit raise to 75mph on WOT?

WOT speed limit

#1 Post by hippo » 17 Sep 2024 15:42

I am a child I know but...

I have all the DLC and I usually do not bother with the new DLC deliveries, but today decided why not?

Then I hit 65mph on the freeway in a 70 zone and I remembered why I do not do WOT deliveries.

I sincerely believe more would use this feature if the max speed was raised to 75MPH.

I am not a speed demon, but with this limitation I have no desire to do WOT deliveries. I do 65MPH EVERYWHERE because I cant do 70 in a 70 zone.I do towns and everywhere at 65mph.

It is true, if I could do the ACTUAL speed limit on the freeway. I would not be doing 65 in a 30 zone. I alt F4 as I could not live with this limitation and remembered why I do not bother with WOT.

I know it sounds childish, but I paid for this game, all the DLC and I would just like to do the speed limit please.

It’s a deliberate move by SCS, so it’s very likely not changing. 65 mph is the speed that most fleet trucks are limited to in the real world.

There’s really no reason to speed as WoT delivery windows are based on real time.

All valid points. I am not disagreeing with you.
But that is what I went through today and I do not like it being 65. I see not being able to do 70 in a 70 as speed limits do not matter. 65 everywhere it is then. My thoughts and feeling do not line up on this.

The WOT limit is ETS2 works because 90kph is the max limit of pretty much all roads in that game; it's ATS where the WOT limit is lower than a huge chunk of the game, so I'd be inclined to agree that 75 might be better. That being said if 65 is based on a real world figure for truck speed limiters then I do kinda get keeping it at that, even if I'd prefer 75 or even 70 over it.

If you look around the industry news, it looks like the federal regulators have been looking for awhile at making speed governors set at 65 (or 68, or 70 depending on the news article, but the consensus seems to be 65) mandatory on commercial trucks.

They've run into pretty stiff opposition from truckers themselves, but I think SCS knows which way the wind is blowing and won't change the WoT rules. The speed governor in ETS2 is there because that actually _is_ the law in the EU.

I do not mind the 105 limit if I have double trailers. The lower speed may allow me to stop better with a heavy double. I take corners better, especially the lane hold feature had trouble on a cargo market job keeping me in the lines going 120-130km/h in Utah. Or in California I do not mind, which has a lower limit, and I am usually lawful in sim.

Otherwise with a single trailer in a number of states I hate not overtaking other trucks.

First time I really did WoT yesterday evening with Arkansas event, I wondered why my truck was stuck at 65. I can see the reason for the policy but IMHO on the sections where the limit is higher, in this case 70, you should be allowed up to the maximum highway speed.

I agree - it's dumb to get passed by other trucks going the speed limit. I don't understand why it's needed for the limit to be set. Some talk about "realistic" playing, but I call bull on that when they've programmed other trucks to go the speed limit.

Seems somehow like the "real" reason behind it is for you to spend more time in the game so their stats of gameplay is higher tbh. Kinda cheeky move, but this world works off data stats like that and the fraction of more time in game you are the better SCS stats are with Steam rankings, etc.

If we wanted to be real truck drivers we'd stop playing this game and go get a CDL. If they were so adamant on "realistic" gameplay then why do they allow to turn the "governor" off in the base game but not a WOT linked one? You can also turn off sleep fatigue and getting tickets... all kinds of imo great moves to make the game more fun.

Faulty logic to argue "realism" if you ask me if all other aspects of the game aren't like this and only WOT. And truth be told if they didn't allow it, they might cut a good percentage of players out if they got rid of that feature in the base game. This is only WOT. The other idea I have is to make WOT more "fair" than local. But that seems odd. If it's a great argument, then why can I turn off tickets for WOT games?

I know this won’t be for a long while before it gets added to the game, but this speed limit will be very relevant when the province of Ontario gets introduced to the game as all trucks have to be speed limited to 105km/h or 65MPH.
