PMG to DDS?

#1 Post by CBQ882 » 26 Sep 2024 23:00

Hi all. I am still very new to modding SCS games, and all of what I've made so far is very simple in terms of mods. However, I'd like to skin some of the AI vehicles (mainly the Mack RD690s and container cars for the trains) and all I see are PMG files. These have a gimp icon so I assume they must be texture files of some sort, Though Im not sure. They don't actually open up in GIMP, hence why I'm assuming I need to somehow convert these to DDS files. I've got the SCS blender tools, ConverterPIX, Conversion tools and the SCS extractor. I tried converterPIX and I cant even get the models to actually show in blender either. I've also looked at available information online and haven't really gotten anywhere. If anyone is able to guide me here on what I may be doing wrong and how I could actually edit textures for the AI, that'd be great. Thanks :)

PMG files are 3D models files, not textures, all the textures SCS uses are DDS.

I see, the gimp Icon confused me. Im wondering where the actual textures are stored then? I see the baked texture files in here but obviously you cant unbake an image. Hm.

If you import the particular PMG into blender and click the "Materials" button whilst having a mesh selected, the materials pane will show you what directory the texture is in.
If you suck at playing the trumpet, that's probably why.
