On the topic of modding

#1 Post by adkennedy03 » 15 Dec 2024 20:14

I haven’t been active on the forum for quite sometime and I see activity here isn’t very much but I’m just curious. For those of you who have experimented with modding, what tools have you used? Also has anyone tried making new scopes (not physical models but magnification and reticle)?

Hey sorry for this late response but it mostly depends on what you want to edit. Textures are easy to edit and can be done in photoshop or in similar software. As for the 3D models you need Zmodeler 3 to extract the models into a readable FBX or OBJ file and then you can edit them in Blender or 3DS MAX animals and objects are easy to export however the maps can be tedious since they are stored in chunks rather than a singular file. However adding in new stuff is tricky as i'm no scripter so i have barley any clue on that. Every resource in the game is stored in the Base.scs you need to extract it somewhere and after editing repack it back into the Base.scs file via Winrar. A lot of us disappear from these forums and sometimes we show up lol. As for modders HU Corner left modding HU a while back... since 2017/2018 i think? Adyusha made some modifications but i don't think he ever released them like a new 3d model of a scope. Some of us here attempted to script in a new animal and i think it did work...

Yeah when you go back a lil ways you’ll find the posts where someone apparently got a coyote in the game. I made a thread about two years ago asking if anyone knew how to mod weapons either existing or creating a new one and had a response from nman but he seems to have gone dormant. I literally forgot about making that on here until a month ago but I tried the steps he laid out and it kind of broke the game. Further toying around shows that changing literally anything broke my game so that’s why I’m asking here lol.
I don't usually try modding games but when I do, it ain't pretty.

nman went dormant and then his account was hacked and then deleted.
