LA and the Bay Area are the highlights of the rework hands down. Love how they expanded the size of LA while giving us a fresh improved Santa Monica, new never before seen in-game Ports of Long Beach, and made all the interstates auxilary and main feel special in their own ways. While the Bay Area gave us a fantastic San Francisco, with an improved city center; a larger than expected Oakland with a huge port, and getting San Jose was nice even if I wasn't so crazy about it compared to the two other Bay Area cities.

Oakland is a massive improvement. Wayyy more enjoyable to visit now. It doesn't feel like a joke anymore. I-580/I-880 was a big plus that brought us San Jose which was a day one exclusion. All in all, I'm very happy with the California reworks project. A few misses but very solid. Now with that out the way, its time to give Nevada and Arizona a better treatment now that they know how reworks go. Phase 1 and 2 was trial and error. It started coming together more with phase 3. And then phase 4 drove it to home plate.

Glad they listened to feedback with Modesto, San Jose, Blythe, Indio and Mojave. All nice adds.

That comparison map is fantastic, @rbsanford. Thanks for making it. Really puts into perspective how much they actually added to and improved California when you see them overlaid.

On a different topic, honestly I'm way more excited for an Arizona rework than the Nevada one. Of course i want Nevada first because it's in much worse shape than AZ is, but AZ is a gorgeous state and a Phoenix built to the standards of places like San Diego and Kansas City is super exciting. The sprawl should be massive. Looking forward to seeing places like Kingman, Nogales, the Morenci Mine, Flagstaff and the Navajo Nation come to life in modern detail as well

I think I'm more interested in Nevada in terms of how it'll improve transit between surrounding states, but I agree Arizona's is the more exciting standalone project. It's got so much going for it all-around, more than any future US DLC except for maybe Florida or New England.

I get why Nevada should be done first but i would prefer Arizona to be done first, i dont have Utah and Wayoming right now so it is only state that connects Texas, New Mexico and Colorado to Northwest states on my map betwen which i drive commonly, but it is only my problem. Other thing because of which i would prefer Arizona first is that route 66 goes via Arizona and i think in closest time there might be a lot of players driving there and looking for secret parts of that route, SCS also might use route 66 for marketing od Ilinois so having as much of that route as possible in game as soon as possible would be also good, and i know Ilinois is most likely 2026 DLC but i dont think they will menage to do whole Nevada and first phase of Arizona that could include route 66 to that time.

@Pasztecior Would highly recommend at least Utah since that will provide you with a connection between Colorado and California with I-15 and I-70.

On another note, I just realized that SCS took all new screenshots for the Steam pages of old map DLCs, smart move.

I totally agree that Arizona has a lot more going for itself and would be a gorgeous rebuilt state. But Nevada by far is critical for I-80 and by it being on the same level as 2016 California. Nevada can be done much faster due to how sparse it is. Arizona could take a full year. 12-14 months like a current dlc. But Nevada imho could be 9-11 months. That's why I'm hoping Nevada is phased. Its the North that is critical now. The South...I-15 is in much better shape. Phase 4 California helped a lot. It connects the Vegas reskin and then Utah of course is a newer map compared to the base map. So I-15 is solid for now but I-80 is hurting.

9 to 11 months for Nevada seems actually reasonable, I can't see it taking longer than 10 months though because of the scenery, not enough complex scenery compared to California. Phasing is still something I'm split on a lot, getting I-80 and North Nevada reworked for Iowa's compatibility update would be one heck of a cool gift.

I gave it 11 max for some fluff because we never know what can happen. If its phased, it won't feel like 11 months at least. I totally agree on Northern Nevada being one heck of a gift with Iowa. Wishful thinking? Maybe...maybe not. But I'm certain going with its possible considering Missouri did not make it in Nov/Dec of last year. That pushed Iowa till late Q2/ early Q3. I think phase 1 Nevada can happen.

I think its possible because of how fast phase 4 dropped after phase 3. It was the same year and no one saw that coming. I don't see anything in Nevada being super complex but the mountains do need to be nice. Iirc, they use a mountain generating tool or they make specific models and just create them that way. You can see some good models in the LA sector for sure. So solid mountains is definitely is definitely possible and apparently not everyone has an eye for great mountains. I-10 mountains between Blythe and Indio should have been report internally as not bein up to par. We can't have any of that in Nevada because Nevada is mountains.
