Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
Wellll SCS did mention that PRT has its own mappers. Let's hope so. So the reworks team we know that did California, hopefully they are in Nevada. That is a team of 11-12 iirc. No way 4 people can do Nevada and expect it to be done in 12 months. It need the entire team. Too much detail nowadays. That's one issue that keeps happening when dlc's are missing roads.....underestimating what it would take. If the entire reworks team is on Nevada, the entire state could be knocked out as a whole because Nevada is less complicated.
So if the California rebuild team has been at Nevada since phase 4 released, I bet it could be out during the Louisiana compatibility update best case. I definitely agree that the ETS2 team can school the ATS team for the mountains. Imagine both Nevada and Arizona at ETS2 mountain quality. The base map terrain would be gorgeous.

I got all five checked off just this morningSora wrote: 25 Jun 2025 17:08 You're asking this in the thread that's been going up and down the five stages of grief about I-80 for the last few years?
They could treat it similarly to West Balkans, where we got some then-unfinished roads.hangman005 wrote: 25 Jun 2025 17:03 That said I hope the jump a gun a little bit, and they can still make it a work site, but incorporate the new I-40 US93 Interchange in Kingman, which is just 25% done IRL

Alright I got all the blog/video pics from today onto my map linked in my signature, I'm interested to see what kinds of blogs we're going to be getting with this Rework phase and when is it releasing, if I had to guess, probably with Illinois

Agreed. One of the issues is that many of us started playing ATS when it was just the base map. Those that started after we got 3 paid map teams, perhaps the wait for better base map quality simply does not hit the same. Us wanting I-80 asap is not wrong nor insane. It's no different than people accepting anything other than I-80.hangman005 wrote: 25 Jun 2025 17:03 If I-80 is the other project and it better be, I just thought it would make more sense to blog that first... No one has been getting upset over the state of I-40 or the R66 Corridor... they have for I-80.

Well you did ask for a specific road to be fast-tracked for a rework!
Jokes aside, going for a road rework instead of a state-by-state one is an interesting choice, and one that I think I'm okay with. The last sentence definitely does read as 'I-80 will come eventually please stay calm!', which even if not stated directly is nice to see.

"There's more on the horizon" also may indicate that more rework announcements are coming soon.

Based on the photos revealed, I’m gonna assume that a good chunk, maybe even all of, Arizona from Casa Grand north may be in the rework, am less sure on what all will be in the NM portion though

Yeah, that is what I said yesterday, both teams can share their knowledge and advices. ATS have a great potential, especially when it comes to the landscape area, it has much more to offer than ETS. Both Nevada and Arizona, have unique areas, mountain desert landscapes are also beautiful, the rework team can pull out a great work there.flight50 wrote: 25 Jun 2025 17:26 I definitely agree that the ETS2 team can school the ATS team for the mountains. And later on, if we could get some attention from SCS, in some mountains and vegetation (no need a whole new work, just some tweaks here and there) in Mt Shasta California, Teton Range in Wyoming, Stanley-Idaho, and some areas of Montana, Washington, Oregon, to the quality that Austria and Switzerland got and later this year Nordic Horizons standards, to ATS most of us here would be very happy.

I agree that there's a number of mountain ranges in game that desperate need some love, but it's wild to me that you called out Mt Shasta and the Tetons, but not the Sierra Nevadas at all. The Front Range in Colorado and the Laramie Mountains need some serious love as well, but the Sierra Nevada's south of I-80 are criminally bad as is, and that's post rework.Kistk3 wrote: 25 Jun 2025 18:40 And later on, if we could get some attention from SCS, in some mountains and vegetation (no need a whole new work, just some tweaks here and there) in Mt Shasta California, Teton Range in Wyoming, Stanley-Idaho, and some areas of Montana, Washington, Oregon, to the quality that Austria and Switzerland got and later this year Nordic Horizons standards, to ATS most of us here would be very happy.

Yeah the southern portion of US-395 did not fare well in the rework.
