Perhaps I'm reading into this a bit too much, but the fact that there is still multiple other REWORK projects across the map may suggest that it isn't just Nevada that is also getting reworked.

The Route 66 rework team is working on both Arizona and New Mexico, and so it will probably go to southern Arizona (and possibly southern New Mexico) after this phase is done. That only leaves Nevada as an obvious choice. Could they be reworking another state as well? Oregon could make sense since it's the oldest DLC other than New Mexico, and British Columbia is on the horizon as a flagship DLC for ATS.

"Multiple" isn't conspicuous either. Personally, I believe they mean two rework teams by "multiple", but it could also be more than two.

If I had to guess the other rework; it's the obvious, the low-hanging-fruit, Northern Nevada with Interstate 80 as the key.

Does anyone know where is this area ? At first look, at background, that snow capped mountains isn't the best shape. It should have better details, let's see what the final product will be.

I'm guessing that's on US 180, with the San Francisco Peaks. If that's so, the mountains do look a bit off; I don't think there should be that much snow at this time of year. Other than that, it's a decent model, although it doesn't look exactly like the real thing, but this is assuming my guess was right.

After reading some more comments and having a day to sit and ponder about the decision, I think I'm at peace with it. I run 40 a *lot* so this is gonna make a lot of my runs a lot more enjoyable. I also run Phoenix due north to Utah (and beyond) a lot as well, so while it seems Phoenix won't be part of this rework, I won't have to go far up I-17 to reach modern map quality. Also, I really, really hope Prescott is added in as a marked city and Camp Verde is scenic.

What really has my attention is the comment that there are other reworks coming down the pipe. 80 in Nevada surely has to be one, no? And I would guess the southern half of AZ/NM would be in there as well. It's reassuring to know there's more coming.

That said, let's sit back and watch SCS work their magic.

Wait, where? I have missed that.
They mentioned this in one of the blogs about PRT.

It was on that 1hr PRT podcast stream awhile ago. They said it has its own team so I take that as it's on everything that a map team requires. Assets, mappers, researching, etc. I could have misinterpreted though.

IMO, this thread should be used for rework projects *which include the base map*. So if SCS announces a Oregon+Washington refresh project, that would go in a different thread, but if SCS announces an I-80 corridor rework project which includes parts of Utah, the discussion for Utah should be in this thread just like how the discussion for northern New Mexico belongs in this thread now.

That is to say, I think I-80 Utah discussion should probably go in this thread for the time being, but discussion about a full-blown Utah rework in 15 years should probably go in the original Utah thread.

Very interesting next project to move on to. Not what I was gunning for first, but it all needs to be redone eventually so I’m not too bothered by the order. We got pictures from Kingman to Tucumcari. Seems like it’ll be a bigger rework than just route 66 as well given Camp Verde and the Grand Canyon are included.

That final line in the blog also gives lots of hope for parallel rework teams. Hopefully we might see I-40 and I-80 both getting reworked and hopefully both come out round the time Illinois does. Definitely excited to see more blogs come out about it!

Illinois added! Up-to-date blog photo locations for upcoming states also included.
