I created this thread, in steam, but was told that devs don't look at steam forums often. So I'm posting it here. Here's what I said in the steam forums.
"I'm not saying remove it. But the speed limit for most of the United States is over 65. Can we please increase it to 80 so we can finally go the speed in all of the states? I understand it's not a racing simulator, and I'm not asking it to be. I'm just asking that we be allowed to go the speed limit."
Can we please increase the governor for world of trucks finally?

Re: Can we please increase the governor for world of trucks finally?
This discussion has happened many times, and usually doesn’t go anywhere. It’s probably not changing anytime soon, since there are some provinces in Canada that have speed limiter mandates at that speed.
Though we probably won’t make it to these provinces anytime soon, it would seem silly to increase the speed limiter now, only to decrease it again once these provinces are in the game.

As I've said in another post:
Maverick89 wrote: It’s a deliberate move by SCS, so it’s very likely not changing. 65 mph is the speed that most fleet trucks are limited to in the real world.
There’s really no reason to speed as WoT delivery windows are based on real time.

Just dpo non WoT job and disable the limiter and you can run at any excessive speed you want
Despite being on an external contract you can drop through cities at 65 mph if you want
Downhill you can also exceed the limiter I don't know what is holding you back?
Or you can chill out with a relaxing game play as most of us do

That's why I enjoy doing WoT contracts with 100-200 hp oldschool trucks which are unable to reach 90 km/h (on the whole 70 kmh is already a trouble for them
).

I have a 65-mph speed limit enabled in the Settings for all jobs, regardless of whether it's WoT or not. It is reasonable for safety and fuel economy reasons, even though neither safety nor fuel economy is particularly relevant in the game.
So, I don't care if WoT got it disabled, I'm still going to use it. But I think it should stay, and if the reason for the limit is fairness of competition, then WoT should also have forced traffic and violations; otherwise, those who disable traffic and violations have a clear advantage even with a common 65-mph limiter.

That's quite a good idea which I'd support. I heard there are topics where truckers compete who do more jobs/mileage/weight and so onrookie31st wrote: 26 Jul 2025 18:18 WoT should also have forced traffic and violations; otherwise, those who disable traffic and violations have a clear advantage even with a common 65-mph limiter.
On the other hand, attaching traffic to the server would mean there will be no way to increase it (for those who enjoy traffic jams etc.). Thinking about futuristic stuff it might be done as increasable but not set below 1.0 (I know there are lots of internal traffic defs - and thus I mean they are not getting decreased too).

Speed limiter is super annoying on any job at first. But after a while it feels more fun with the speed limiter on. They won't take it off for WOT jobs when WOT jobs' time left is real life time not in-game time. In up to 5 real life hours (depending on mods used, speed, how often you stopped and for how long etc) you can get from one side of the game map to the other, with the speed limiter on. So, although at first the speed limiter is annoying, you'll eventually LIKE the speed limiter on.
